Oh my god! It does sound like a huge waste of time! I'm sure he was training the nurse like you said. Everytime they ask me if I'm okay with a student observing I say no. Because they spend more time teaching the student then actually listening to me or actually treating me. So basically you waited do long for the appointment and all you got is a you have to go private to sort it out? That's bull shit. I'd be pissed off. The NHS doctors are jerks and they should feel useless. Anything with any challenge or anything that is helpful to a patient a private doctor does. What's the purpose of NHS dermatologist then? To shove antibiotics at you and that is all? Ugh the medical field just pisses me off. I would have walked out too. I'm sorry the appointment was such a let down. Is there a way you can see a different derm? Or when you go NHS is there no choices for you?

You can't win because the NHS isn't interested and privates try and push whatever costs them the least! I give up to be honest! The NHS are hopeless!

Went back to my GP today but saw someone else who was really really nice (I think she is new) and said she'd send me for a 2nd opinion if I could come back when it flares up. This is going to be difficult because it can change from day to day and it takes weeks to get an appointment even with a GP!

I did ask her why my skin is starting to lose pigment in certain places (tiny hard white scar like tissue) and she said she would have to put it to the derm... I'm going to wait for an appointment at Salford Royal Hospital (apparently one of the best derm departments in the UK) like I should have the first time. Because I wanted to see someone quickly I picked a 'lesser' hospital

the pigment loss is starting to bother me as the hair stops growing there but my stubble grows quickly so it becomes obvious. On the other hand I hate shaving cos it irritates my skin!

I'll try and get some pictures next week when my new phone finally turns up!! I really wouldn't wish acne on anyone!

Sorry it's taken so long but I've just managed to get a new phone so here are some pictures.

The right side is where I have the red patch but it is hard to see due to the camera. The left side is quite red today because I used a scrub this morning but the red on the jawline just won't go away and has been there for years

It is also hard to see my 'pits' with the camera

Thoughts?

I received a copy of the letter my derm sent to my GP today and it was a load of rubbish... he couldn't even be bothered to sign it (to save time apparently)

Hi! I see the red you are talking about, have you ever looked into eczema? Looks like you could have a mild eczema issue. I don't see the pitted scars really. I don't think you have anything to worry about, your a very good looking guy! You just need a see a doctor that will actually look at your skin and spend some time with you. You know like some doc should take a patch test or something if they don't know what it is by looking at it.

Did this continue after your accutane course, could it be permanate facial flushing?

I'm pretty sure it's not eczema. It starred from a patch of acne I had there when I was on roaccutane. It's not flushing because it feels rubbery and gets irritated after shaving etc. I soak it in moisturiser!

I have got pits they're just hard to see in this light... I've posted pics on another thread that show them more x

I would ask your doctor or derm to take a patch test and see what the results have to say. I mean if its consistently red and irritated looking and has a diffrent texture compared to the rest of your skin, there has to be something going on.

He said he didn't really know at this point what the red patch was but try some anti biotics as it seems like underlying acne as I have the same sort of thing on the other side (he actually offered me Roaccutane which was weird I thought)

He then said we'd look at laser for my scarring which I nearly jumped through the roof about

I have a white patch that is getting bigger and bigger and the hair has stopped growing so it is prominent but he said he couldn't see it I can't win because my stubble hides my scars but now that this is getting bigger it stands out with the hair growing around it! I HATE MY SKIN!!!

It looks similar to a white patch next to it which I've always head as it's a scar from cystic acne but this one hasn't been there until the last few months and I've had no active acne there?! Strange
