Hi,
I am a long time lurker, first time poster. I am a 32 yr old male battling scalp acne, and acne in general (chest, neck, face) for the past 1.5 years. Last time I had it before that was in my teens. I have on Minocycline for the past year. It helped but did not cure. I went to a Naturopath in Jan this year. Changed diet, took vitamins, etc. It helped but did not cure.
I woke up last week with 15-20 pimples on my scalp.
Things I have tried...
minocycline, BP, salasylic acid, apple cider vinegar, cetaphil for oily skin (helping my face a lot), head and shoulders, nizoral, manuka honey, witch hazel, tea tree oil. currently on probiotics for last 3 months.
I am meeting my family doctor on Tuesday. Probably need a referral to a new derm. My last derm said Accutane was my only other option - which I would rather not entertain especially at my age.
Anyone else going through similar?

The only time I get scalp acne is when I use shampoos/conditioners with silicone in them. I normally use Pantene which is silicone free and never have any problems with it. I bought a store brands make on a Pantene shampoo/conditioner and it was awful. I had 3 deep cystic pimples on the nape of my neck from using it. They took a month to go away after I stopped using the store brand shampoo.
Hi,
I am so sorry you are going through this. Is it by any chance folliculitis?
What do you currently use to wash your hair? Have you tried using an all natural, organic shampoo? A shampoo without fragrance, parabens, sulfates, etc?
Also, I have read some success stories on borax for the hair. And if you are too scared to go the borax route, maybe try baking soda to wash your hair?
Another suggestion is maybe use sulfur? Most pharmacies sell sulfur for CHEAP. I wonder if this will help you because sulfur kills bacteria really well...
Lastly, what is your diet like? Do you have any intolerances or allergies?
T Sal shampoo by Neutrogena. I have been using this for 3 weeks with great results thus far.
Lather it on and leave it for 5 mins (face and scalp). Rinse. Lather on again, (lathers quickly) leave on for 5 mins, rinse.
If you have scalp acne, try this. I bought mine off Amazon.
due to the drying on my forehead after it. I apply a thin layer of organic Argan oil. I presume you could use jojoba or any oil your comfortable with.
