Hey all. I'm here looking for some recommendations, advice, guidance etc.

I'm a 21 year old male. Suffered from acne of varying levels for a good number of years - began around age 17 iirc. I've tried numerous different treatments, from prescriptions to off the shelf cleansers etc.

After many years of suffering I've decided to start taking this problem serious as it's really affecting my life too much.

Acne mainly affects my chin/lower cheeks, as well as under my nose, seldom having any impact above this line. It is often quite oily although can sometimes be dry too. I have lots of red marks/blemishes.

Would love some recommendations of what cleansers/moisturiser/ etc would be good for my skin. I live in the UK so please bare in mind I can't get hold of products from the US.

Not the best quality of pictures but hopefully gives some idea.

Cetaphil breaks many people out. Cerave is a bit better but not much. You're going to need to learn what ingredients to look for and do research of what is available to you. Personally, I use black soap. There are no chemicals to irritate your skin.

Many? No your wrong. It has a 4.5/5 rating on this website so "many" would mean "more" and 4.5/5 Is way over 2.5/5

You go with the ratings, Ron. I go with the fact that it has pore-clogging ingredients and breaks many people out in whiteheads.

You my friend make no sense. The ratings are from people who USE the product. So if its 4.5/5 then that means 90 Percent of people like using it. And if they like using it for their Acne purposes then I suppose that means it doesn't break them out or else they wouldn't like it.

Appreciate the responses.

Cetaphil hasn't done a lot of good for me in the past to be honest - same with CeraVe.

Could possibly be caused by your phone? Was the first thing I thought of, because it's all around your chin. Do you touch your face a lot absentmindedly? I do at work sometimes, resting my face in my hands, or putting my phone on my face, and have learned to stop myself. Just a suggestion of one preventative measure!

Have you tried a regimen of salicylic acid and a sulfur topical?

This is what I use and it works well for me.

Wash face with Mario Badescu acne facial cleanser. I use the Olay spin brush with my face wash.

Dry my face and apply a thin layer of de la Cruz 10% sulfur ointment for 10 mins and wash off. This kills bacteria and cleans out pores very well but it is pretty drying. If you have ever used retin a, it dries your skin out like that.

Apply muac 5% madelic acid toner with cotton ball over entire face.

Then I apply MG 217 psoriasis multi symptom lotion with 3% salicylic acid. I don't have psoriasis but I love this lotion for my acne. It's pretty soothing and feels cool when it goes on.

So pretty much you just need something to unclog pores like salicylic acid and something to kill bacteria like sulfur or bp. I like sulfur topicals better though. Find a good moisturizer cerave should be fine. If what you have is acne.

It could be some sort of folliculitis. All the lesions are in the area where facial hair grows. Razors if not cleaned properly can harbor lots of bacteria or even fungus. Folliculitis caused by shaving razors is called barbers itch. Look into this because it might be your problem.
