So I started getting acne when I was about 14 and I'm now 27. So it's been a long time I've been dealing with it. It runs in my family my mum was still getting breakouts well into her 40s. I have tried a lot!! I wont say everything but It feels like it. I've used all antibiotics, a course of roaccutane for 12 months, pro active, retin a, epi-duo etc, salsylic acid glycolic acid etc. Somethings have worked here and there, Roaccutane worked well but it wasn't something I wanted to stay on long term and eventually after stopping they came back. After all these years it seems my skin has started to become a lot more sensitive to what I put onto it and I really cant use too much anymore. After reading this websites tips maybe 12-18 months ago I decided to start using Benzoyl peroxide again. 2.5% as I have read that it is as effective as 10% but without the severe drying out. That has been working fine for me. I don't use anything else just wash my face with warm water and it has controlled breakout pretty well. Recently I purchased a derma roller 0.2mm and I thought I would give it a try. So I used it did the rolling a little bit uncomforable but at 0.2mm it's quite bearable and after I heaped on my BP. I have to do this at night because the roller makes me look sunburnt for about an hour or 2. So since using this and it has only been a week I have found my skin is clearing up very fast not just the few pimples here and there but the little red marks that seem to linger and some of the redness as well. My "theroy" is that the roller is allowing the BP to penetrate much better and bypassing any blocked pores I may have, as for the scars I am thinking that the tiny micro trauma caused by the needles (i read its called micro trauma somewhere) may be helping my body to heal the little marks by sort of tricking it into thinking there is a wound that needs healing.

I wanted to share this because for the past 13 years or so acne has really taken its toll on me and if this can help even one person clear theres up I will be very happy.

Luke.

Me too! I have a derma roller I have used a couple times and I just tried using it immediately apply toner and then 2.5 % BP. I woke up with a huge reduction of acne. My acne is mostly white heads and black heads with stubborn chin acne. This was so effective that I wish I had taken a before and after picture. Way more effective than microdermabrasion and 2.5 BP which I have previously tried.

Hm I heard that you aren't supposed to use a dermaroller on active acne rather scarring as you risk spreading infection if you do it over acne... confused.
