I'm trying it now (2 weeks in)

mild to moderate acne type with cystic breakouts from time to time

Some stuff already tryed:

tons of cosmetics - you name it i've done it

antibiotics - broadspectrum - this shit helps for a while but you know how it ends..... same

So about this regimen still can't give a good feedback, but it did improve my health overall.

Just a few observations in general, because for the past five years with this decease I can share some thoughts:

You'll probably won't find a magic cure it just doesn't work that way, if the enviroment and your lifestyle doesn't change the acne will keep comin' back (I'm 25)

When it gets worse: (my case)

poor diet - lots of carbs and sugar - maybe depends on metabolism, i'm doing really bad with carbs (milk doesn't make any difference)

poor phisical condition and lack of movement, lack of daylight activities (sitting in that shady room all day is just not good)

low water intake

During the years I've gone from acne free (almost) to bad breakouts just in matter of day or two and vice versa

same case just right now, and the same reason I guess - I stuffed myself to death with junk food and sugar couple days ago and it did get BAD.

So I will continue with this supplements because it really improves my digestive health, but with my current state it won't do the magic.

But yeah maybe the key is not some radical chemistry, just a good lifestyle and good monitoring I don't want to take antibiotics it's just nonsense

to live this way taking pills for years believing it's the only way, I don't wan't it.

Thanks to the author anyway, I'll give some reasonable feedback after month or so when i fix the food intake and all the other stuff.

i came across candida on the internet and then read big phils post. I have to say it was big phils post that made me try it because when i read about it on the internet i thought no way can this clear my skin but this post was a real person with results. i started about a week and a half ago and my skin is more than 80% clearer I CANT BELIEVE IT..... i take probiotics, cocnut oil pills, bromelain, papaya, oregano pills and beta caroteine. I read this all helps with candida. I am going to the store today to pick up some L Glutamine which is supposed to reverse the effects of the candida and restore any damage to your intestinal tract. I highly believe that anti biotics did this to me. I have always had some acne but it was extremely moderate but my derm loaded me up with antibiotics about 5 years ago and it got worse and a few mojnths ago i tried spirnolactone and it was all down hill from there. I JUST WANT TO SAY "THANK YOU BIG PHIL" i might not have tried this if you didnt take the time to share with us your results. I cant believe it i only have a few zits left as opposed to 15 to 20 cysts, papules and pustules on my face and a bunch of red marks. Dude you rock and because of you i am slowly getting out of my depression. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU :)

@ BIGPHIL 205

Hi, I have read your post and it is definitely something I would like to try.

I am 21 in a week and have been suffering with acne since I was 13, It started of just a few spots here and there and I got a a BP cream from

the doctor that helped well My diet used to be quite bad I used to eat loads of greezy pizza and drink fizzy juice ( never really ate loads of

sweats ) this was when I stayed in Holland I then moved to the UK, after a few years turning 15 or so I started to get more and more spots I

tried loads of different over the counter products then started going to the doctor and started getting topical solutions antibiotics different BP

Creams at different strengths allot of them calming my acne down allot especially in the first month or so of using them then it would stop

working and I would have to start using something else. The product I used the longest was Duac once daily gel along with a moisterizer.

I used this for over a year which Kept my acne down to a minimum some days I would have not spots atall just a few red marks on my right

cheek. Unfortunately the sun don't shine forever and even that stopped working. I tried various different creams and lotions, I can't even

remember the names of them all. I am now on a gel ( Retin - A ) Tretinoin 0.025% I used this about 6 months ago and for the first few

months it worked wonders cleared my spots and was fading marks really well and then it just stoped working. I switched to something else

and now I am back on retin-a again it is minimizing my acne but still not doing to great. I do and have for the last 3 years been eating

hardly any junkfood atall ( like junkfood 5 times in a full year ) I also only drink water and orange juice. I never used to have really bad

oily skin but it was quite oily and I started to use whipes and I just think that has made my oily skin 10 x worse as after a few hours of

washing my face and moisterising in the morning it is so so oily its disgusting I am forced to wipe it. I try wipe it as little as possible. I do

use coul alcohol and perfume free whipes ( spotless skin by simple ) but still makes my skin really shiney and the oil comes back after a

few hours. do you think that the zinc will really help me out with my oily skin ? or is it just a hit or a miss with my skin type ?

I hope you or anyone has taken time to read this and can give me a few answers to questions I have.

is there any particular brands you or anyone for that matter would recomend for mulitvitamin, zinc, and fish oils as when I type it in

It comes up different brands etc.

Would apriciate if someone could answer my questions.

Thanks.

QUOTE (Bigphil205 @ Mar 30 2011, 12:07 PM)

I am currently two months in to perfectly clear skin. I have started to wear hats, eat sugars and dairy again and i go to the gym 4 days a week and sweat my @ss off. None of this effects my skin any longer. If you dont have time to read the whole thing skip to the last parts for what i call my personal "cure" to adult acne.

Ive had acne since 14, im 29. I started off with whiteheads, then in at the end of highschool went from not only 3-5 whiteheads every morning to a few deep large cystic type pimples every week. I shave my head and get acne on the top of my head, and i get acne on my chest and sometimes shoulders. I got a great job at 21 and had lots of money to go pay for every and any magical acne cure i saw advertised.

Here is a list of products/brands i have tried and will never use on my face again and i believe do not work and the chemicals can and will do damage in time.

Skin Id

Proactive

Murad

Stiefel

clean and clear

Acne.org regimen

Ive used others but forgot exactly the names, some were over $200 for 1 month. ohh the dumb things i did for hope.

I used proactive the longest because from 23-25 i had hardly any acne and life was good and proactive kinda worked about 85% of the time which i thought was ok.

I am now a health nut because i love going to the gym and want to make it count. I was told that there can be an allergy to food during adulthood that causes acne so i stopped dairy because it makes my stomach hurt sometimes now that im older, i stopped sugar, bread, flour, basically started a gluten free diet. i even stopped eating fruits high in sugar. and i love ice cream more then my dog, and i love sugar more then life itself.

Here is what i started doing that "helped", which let me to question why when it only "helped"

Over the course of 2 years my skin changed badly, any chemicals burned my skin, stuff that before didnt phase it. i knew chemicals were no longer a solution. i would put on the proactive wash and my face looked like i was choking it was soo red. I knew i had to look for something better.

I started taking a mulitvitamin, zinc, fish oil and vitamin b complex. The zinc and fish oils did help alot for the quality of my skin over my whole body, and for me the vitamin b seemed to help keep pimples smaller. After not using chemicals i realized i had oily skin, not dry skin which i though i had from the chemicals destroying it. The zinc stopped all oily skin problems with just 1 50mg tablet per day. All these helped but i still had acne. So something else had to be causing it.

So here is where the path to my "cure" started. I found Dermify, it helped but was not the cure. It is hands down the best thing i have ever used and its natural/organic. my skin is soo soft, and now that i dont have acne i can touch it, and feel how great it is and not get pimples from touching my face. I was a preteen the last time i could say that, about 15 years..... dermify and those supplements listed cut down my acne, my skin felt better but i still had acne. all of a sudden i started to have less whiteheads and more cystic acne. so i went to nonstop research mode. in my seach for cystic acne i came across many different issues but there was a flashing spot light that is the big #1 problem. So here it is, the leading cause of adult acne, especially adults who use or have used any prescription drugs which i have not......POOR DIGESTIVE HEALTH!!! The average american eats soo much meat and carbs and eats in 1 year on average the amount of fiber their body needs in 1 month. bread is not fiber, not in the amounts you need so dont say "i eat my fiber" you dont.

The cure is not in your food intake, but in your digestive tract and your BM's. after 1 week taking fiber you will be able to see everytime you #2 that you were not healthy in your digestion. the foods you eat DO NOT CAUSE ACNE, unless you have a reaction to them. I know for some people sugar can cause acne because of candida. there are many food allergies out there, many of them can cause acne, but those are more rare. But, its safe to say almost everybody has poor digestion.

There is tons of info to read about that, but here are the two items that taken every day WILL cure your adult acne, and probably for that matter all acne.

the first is a quality fiber, not physillium. Try the NOW brand Fiber 3 that has omega 3's in it, the second step and most important is PROBIOTICS. I have tried 3 different types the one that i like is a pill from the NOW brand called GR8-dophillous. you keep it in the fridge after opening to keep its potency but if you need to travel it still works not cooled. i normally take the amount i need and put them in a different bottle for the trip.

Here is my new daily regimen. I wake up walk to the fridge get out 1 probiotic pill, mix up a cup of fiber and use the fiber drink to swallow the pill. fiber makes your body need water so i drink 1 more glass 2 if you can take it. You need to drink room temp water because cold water is hard on your stomach and the probiotic pill. then i wash my face. right after dinner i take my supplements,a couple hours after eating dinner when my stomach is empty i take 1 more probiotic pill with a glass of water and wash my face and go to bed. that is it.

i suggest you take the supplements as well because they have worked great for me. the fiber is about 12 dollars per month, the probiotics are about 7 per month. dermify is 30 per bottle but lasts over 3 months per bottle when it says a 1 month supply. all my other supplements cost around 7 dollars a month from walmart. they are more expensive but have 3-5 month supplys.

overall my acne...wait i dont have acne any longer, face care is...$36. give or take, it is cheaper then that now because i have found places to get supplements in larger quantities which make them very cheap. it is more like 30 bucks. and if you dont need the zinc or vitamin b, or feel that omega'3 in fish oil isnt needed (google it, you need it) it will be closer to 23-25. that is cheap in comparison to most regimens.

On my gym days i wash my face three times. I have used the crappy gym soap on my face, axe body wash on my face, a towel for almost a week, bad smelly well water, and none of it has given me breakouts. all these little things i thought caused my acne were all bogus, i had great skin, i just had to find it.

I had to share this information. Google probiotics and fiber cure for acne, or probiotics cure for acne. i think they are trying to hide this from us. it is a known fact, but yet how many of us know this? I have 2 friends i started on this regimen. both acne free in less then 3 weeks. one had very mild acne, the other had cystic acne and horrible body acne. worked for both.

go forth, fix your digestive problems and feel better, get way more energy, and wake up every morning as i still do, walk to the mirror, and smile like you just had the best sex of your life because there is not one $#%#$%^'ing pimple on your sexy little face.

im 43 years old and have been suffering from acne since i was 18..ive finally realized that maybe all the crap ive been using for all these years is not the answer...im verrrry intrigued by your regime, and will give it a try...where do you buy your fiber and probiotic pills? thanks for all the info!

THIS WORKS!!!!

I have specifically joined and am posting on this subject to give everyone results..

ThE Fibre and Probiotic regiment works ...(got exactly same fibre and probiotic as outlined.)

I am approaching week 3 and truly have nothing new in terms of acne coming out where as before would have new acne couple times a week.. Very annoying ....

I already was pretty healthy with bowel movements once a day.. So never really thought that it would be any issues with digestion etc..

I have tried many creams and washes from drug store etc.. Most work for a bit in the beginning but ended up the same...

It all makes sense to clear you skin internally.....

IT WORKS!!

I have just started incorporating a probiotic into my daily routine after reading your post the other day. When I read it, a light bulb went off... My stomach has always had issues- although they have been minor, it has never been 100% right. I have also always felt that my acne issues stem from internal problems and not necessarily topical. I have ALSO had terrbile experiences with BP lately (worked for years but then started aging my skin rapidly causing fine lines and constant dry flaking). Also I have had (TMI probably but its applicable) yeast infections more frequently as the years have gone on, so that is even MORE of a sign of the unbalance.

I eat a diet relatively high in fiber (with no sugar, dairy or white refined carbs- lots of veggies and i drink a green superfood drink everyday), do you think fiber supplementation is still necessary despite that? The probiotic I am taking is Natren Healthy Trinity (on day 2 today).

i didn't read this whole thread but i just wanted to jump in and say that this is very interesting to me... i had read someone on here say that digestive health greatly affected acne. i am going to look into this because i have had sort of digestive problems my whole life. i didn't have acne until the past few years, but this is also when i've been having more digestive problems. my damn dermatologist never mentioned anything like this to me so now i am intrigued. hmmm....

I'm on it since 2 week, this is definitly my cure, you must give it a try, and it's so simple!!!

Personally, I also cut off dairy, because there are many, many evidence about it's link with acne.. but that's not the main factor, it's really probiotic with fiber.

I've tryed a lot of things for curing my acne and never got such improvement! (Including 2x Accutane courses, which only worked temporarily)

My regimen:

Breakfast: Fiber Cereals with Soy Milk or Almond Milk + Fiber supplement + WATER

Dinner: Food + Fiber supplement + Zinc + WATER

Supper: Food + Fiber supplement + Probiotic + WATER

Don't forget the water or you'll get the opposite effect: constipation lol

Seriously, this regimen is just too easy for not giving it a try.

Good luck have fun!

Hi, I was wondering if you or someone could comment on the fact that fiber inhibits zinc absorption? I've been trying to juggle the fiber/prognostic/digestive enzyme diet withe zinc but I feel like it's so hard! What foods are OK to consume that won't inhibit zinc absorption??

I'm on my 30th day and will keep trying. I know my diet plays a big part in my acne. I was starting to heal up, but had a lot off pizza on Halloween and some fast food the day before. I can feel a few starting to show up on my face. Friday and Saturday I thought I was finally gonna make it. A few weeks ago I was in Vegas and partied like a rockstar, The drinking was fine, but all the garbage I ate came back at me. I have been mostly breaking out around my jaw line and cheek area. Six out seven days I'll eat clean and that one day makes a difference. Usually after about a day or two I can feel them starting to form. I workout 5-6 days of the week and consume about 1.5 gallons of water. My diet is a lot of raw vegetables, fruits, brown rice, chicken, turkey, and egg substitute. I still drink, but its mostly vodka or rum mixed with a diet soda or tonic water. I'm going to keep trying and hopefully everything works out. Right now I have a few forming and some scarring from the past month. Maybe next month will be better. Even if it doesn't I will still take the probiotics and fiber.

I read that too, but not really sure. I do take my zinc and vitamins in the morning after the probiotic and fiber.

I have been on this for about 10-12 days now. I noticed that at first, my skin improved quickly, then started the process of clearing the spots that have been there long. I no longer broke out, but I did get a few small inflamed bumps here and there that cleared in about 10-12 hours. Much improved.

HOWEVER, I continued to research probiotics in general and came to the conclusion that Probiotics really are a shotgun approach to improving the precense of essential bacterial cultures in the digestive tract. What I mean by this is there are simply no way to guarantee that:

a) the bacterial cultures in the caps stay in healthy while on the shelf and

b) that the bacterial cultures survive the trip to the digestive tract ... after all, they are subject to elevated temperatures, acids and a host of other effects in our bodies which are designed to kill bacterial. This is why people who completely lose bacterial cultures that aid in digestive literally have to have a fecal transplant (placing feces in the digestive tract from a healthy digestive system) and cannot just take a probiotic.

This is also why you can see probiotics with such wide ranges of CFU's (colony forming units) per tab, anywhere from 1billion to 100 billion and why some probiotics recommend refrigeration to help retain the potency.

I stated breaking out again after a clearing up and I suspect it was that I didn't refridgerate the probiotic and that I was cheap and bought the Vitamin Shoppe brand. Not that the bacterial strains in value brands don't work, but likely, the cheaper price ends up reflecting in cheaper delivery systems and processing meaning the product isn't expedited as quickly to shelves, it has a shorter shelf life, and is generally less effecient at delivering bacterial cultures to the small intestines.

So to remedy this, I suggest the following:

Use a probiotic with an effective packaging and delivery system. Bio-Tract is supposed to be a very reputable capsule which can readily survive the environment of the digestive system. This technology is available in Renew Life FloraSMART. These caps are about $17 for 30, so they aren't that expensive, all things considered.

Keep your probiotic refrigerated. The key is to do everything to preserve the bacterial cultures until they can be delivered to the small intestines and doing this will enhance the shelf life. Even if you have to go on a trip, put it in a cooler or something. Or at the very worst case scenario, you don't refrigerate them on a trip and you just have slightly less effective probiotics during the duration of your trip.

Buy your probiotics in the smallest bottles possible. Buying in smaller quantities will help reduce product shelf life.

This is all reserch of secondary sources, no original research, so take it for what it's worth. Right now, I am using Renew Life FloraSMART and Renew Life Flora 50 Billion and seeing if they are more effective. I will let you guys know in two weeks.

Or you can brew your own water kefir. For those of you who don't know, Google it.

I'm very hopeful that this regime might help me. I started taking the exact same fiber and probiotic supplements as OP 6 days ago and so far the results are: the persistent blackheads on my nose that I didn't really care about are going away/ aren't nearly as visible as they were which was a pleasant surprise. My forehead is also pretty much clear. I always seems to get 2 or 3 little pimples there every week, and this week I haven't. Within like 2 days I started having regular BM's (at least once a day sometimes twice- this wasn't the case before, I was very irregular). I feel lighter and am not as bloated from the regular BM's. Unfortunately I think I'm having a bit of an initial breakout, with a bunch of little like clogged pores coming out on the right side of my face which is abnormal. Other than that it's pretty much the usual slightly less than moderate acne with red marks, a bunch of inflamed pimples. I should add that I'm only taking one probiotic with the fiber unlike the OP. I really hope this is the answer!

I'm trying this right now... started with probiotics last night... Ordered the same brand fiber and probiotic, the fiber hasn't come it yet and probably won't for another week, so right now I'm just eating fiber cereal and taking the probiotic...

One thing I've noticed this evening is that acne seems to be coming up on my forehead, a place that has generally been acne-free for the past year or even more. I also got a large painful cyst on my left temple. If probiotics are the cause, well then... a) that was a fast reaction, since I only started taking them last night and b) I hope it's only an initial breakout, since probiotics are pretty much my last attempt at getting clear. It's all hopeless from here on: I've literally tried everything and exhausted my options.

I'm going to keep at it for maybe two weeks? And if after that the new acne hasn't stopped coming in, then maybe I just have a bad reaction to probiotics. Which would suck so much because I was kind of hoping this would be my cure, seeing as how my acne seems to be almost entirely digestive-related.

EDIT: What I'm really hoping is that it's just detox symptoms...
