How's it going people. So I haven't posted on here for a looong time. The last time was in 2011 I'm pretty sure, when I started my first course of Accutane, which was at 20mg-30mg for 4 months. Needless to say it kind of worked.
Fast forward to 2018 and I am now on day 8 of my second course of tane. I managed to get referred, seen, bloods and have Accutane in my hand in about 2 weeks, pretty quick . I am starting on a 30mg dose, so we will see how this goes. I remember from last time I was started on 20mg and really should have stayed on it longer and had a higher dosage, but I was naive and told the derm that I think it's all okay now for me to come off it. Big mistake as from then on I had bad skin and to this day still do. My skin however isn't majorly bad. Its fairly moderate, but it's always crap, like always. Never a day goes by where there isn't a creature on my face.
So...I decided to sort it once and for all.
As I said I'm now on day 8 off the journey. Side effects I'm having so far are:
- Mega dry lips
- Slightly peeling skin ( or more fragile)
- Joint throbbing pains...in my toes (what the hell)
- Dry nose
I have to go back at week 5 for another appointment and week 4 for bloods. But I am going to try and do a weekly update. Although I haven't posted on here for a very long time, I most certainly have been an avid reader of everything you guys have to write about, not just Accutane but the whole acne struggle, so hoping this can maybe be of some help in any way to you guys.
Here's hoping the Tane clears me this time. Wish me luck!
@Andy87 For the joint pain I found that upping the omega 3's really helps. People recommend fish oils I being plant based recommend ground up flax seeds and for one-two combo I also recommend taking a nice strong dose of turmeric mixed with some black pepper that'll help with inflammation and some joint pain.
Hope that helps with some annoying side effects
