Hey everyone, first time poster
I'm currently 19 years old and have been suffering from mild-severe acne since I was 15.
I've been on accutane for around 2.5 months (40mg/day) and have been experiencing the typical side effects of dry skin, lips and eyes.
However, around 2 weeks ago or 2 months within my treatment my skin started to get EXTREMELY flushed 24/7. The only time my skin isn't red is when I wake up for a few minutes.
* Picture 1 was my acne/complexion 1 month into accutane
* Picture 2 is my current complexion (note there are no active zits, only my face is REALLY RED)
Just wondering what this is, if it's normal whilst on roaccutane and whether it will go away in a few months after i finish treatment?
Thanks all!
*Also just seeking some opinions on whether this is hyper-pigmentation which should go away with time, or actual acne scarring?
This is the same thing that happened to my arm, it's your skin being irritated... it's most likely because you are not moisturizing enough... Happens when the skin is extremely dry.
Also the acne will appear much more red while on accutane, this is information I got directly from my doctor.
Make sure to buy a good moisturizer, and apply after anytime you wash your face.
First of all, thank you both for replying!
My skin isn't as red anymore (although still a bit red), and looks fine when I wake up. Only gets really red during the day cause it's warm in Australia. It should probably be just a temporary issue, right?Yeah I'm currently moisturising with the facial moisturiser from Cetaphil.
Also another question, i'm assuming it is normal for your skin to be a bit flaky on accutane because of the skin renewal?
