Hi guys,

I thought it would be a good idea to share my story and (hopefully) positive experience with Accutane.

I've suffered from acne for about 9 years - I had good skin until then when others in my high school did not - I did feel somewhat privileged at the time however I didn't know that it would soon affect my life for the next years to come. I first saw a dermatologist in 2009 when I was prescribed Epiduo - looking back I don't know whether it was my attitude at the time however for whatever reason that did not work. I started the Acne.org regime a few years ago however up until now I came to realise this is simply a band aid solution and I did not want to continue to apply products to my skin day in day out. I made an appointment with one of the more expensive dermatologists in my city in late 2015. I shared my past experiences and was soon put onto  Differin along Clindatech for 3 months - this however did not work. I was then put onto Cephalexin along with the Differin for a further 3 months. As I left the office I was given some information on Isotretinoin. As the Differin/Cephalexin wasn't working I thought it would be a real possibility that I would be prescribed Isotretinion at my next appointment - so I started researching and ordering a few products. At first I was scared - however I thought it was worth the plunge to fix this condition.

I started my first 20mg tablet on 25-7-16. I'm taking this every second day for 2 weeks and then once daily after so I'm almost done on every second day. My experiences so far have been very positive - I've had 3 break outs since with one small one developing - I would usually get 3 in a matter of days. My lips are starting to get dry and once I start on every day this is only going to get worse.

So here are my pictures pre accutane.

I'd love to know what you guys think.

Cheers.

Accutane was very mild to begin with, but I totally understand the feeling of having acne in general. Going on accutane as well in about 3 days, will continue to follow your log!

We're all gonna make it (to clear skin)!

Thanks for your reply Tretinoin! My pictures may or may not reflect the progress as I've used 3 cameras for the 4 stages.

Please post some progress pictures - I would love to see them!

Thanks for the compliments mate I appreciate it. I've been on 20mg since the start. When I was first put onto it my derm suggested it would be 6-7 months treatment. I'm seeing my derm this Thursday for a review.

I saw my derm 22-9. She said everything is going well and suggested it would be best to do a 9 month course at 20mg as I take other medication and to eliminate the side effects.

I'm wrapt at the moment - I know this stuffs starting to really work. At the moment I don't have any actives - just marks which are very slowly fading.

So I went to see my Derm 1/5.

She said all is well and I'll be off the meds 25/6 after my 12 month course.

The last few weeks I've experienced a large amount of small 'break outs' or some sort of irritation and until recently my neck is very irritated.

It all seems to be along the jaw line and around the mouth area. Not alot on the cheeks.

I'm very worried as I'll be off the meds in a little while and think it might return.

Has anyone experienced this or got any advice?

Any replies are much appreciated.
