I've struggled with mild-moderate acne for a few years now. I just started accutane (absorica) 80 mg/day (my dermatologist said that research shows that high doses for shorter amount of time might make the accutane more effective). I'm currently on Day 6 and my acne is flaring up so much. How long should I expect this initial breakout to last? Is there anything I can do to minimize it? Should I bump myself down toonly taking 40mg a day? I'm going to the beach in a week and don't want to be all broken out! This is miserable! HELP

It seems like Accutane works differently from person to person but most do end up with flareups/ib's.
I highly recommend NOT going to the beach and being exposed to too much sun while on Accutane. Do not tan, do not have your skin take a beating from the sun. This is super important since Accutane makes your skin tender and exposed to more issues. If you do a Google search for 'Don't Tan on Accutane' you'll see what I mean.
Accutane is the most hardcore thing you could use for your skin. Being exposed to sun will damage it further. Please reconsider the beach thing. 
Even after your treatment is done you really need to take tender care of your skin and avoid harsh sun. I am shocked your doctor/dermatologist didn't bring this up before they prescribing Accutane.
