About me:

Have had persistent acne/backne for over 3 years, acne for me was caused by dairy/sugar. Cut out dairy and saw a huge improvement but I want to be clean and clear. I also have very oily skin and I hope it can be controlled with low dosing.

18 y/o male

Will update every single week until I stop.

I'm on 10mg on the first two weeks too! And ever since I'm 20mg/day.

Day 58 today (8.3 weeks)! Goodluck!!!

P.S. Aquaphor is the best for severe dry lips!!!

Week 1
Alriiiiight. Week 1 is over and I have yet to experience any side effects. I cheated on my diet lightly to see how my skin would react and I developed small whiteheads which dried out very quickly (within a day) which is very nice to see. That's about it. I take the pills with my biggest meal of the day with water. I also drink a lot of water everyday. I can't wait till my skin gets less oily.

Week 2

Skin has reduced in oil, normally I would have so much oil on my face in the evenings but now it is normal. I don't know if the pimples from last week were IB but they are gone. Only got one small pimple on my face which probably will dry up within a day. Lips are chapped/drier than usual but nothing that can't be fixed with vaseline, ordered some aquaphor since I heard it's much better. So that's it for week 2.

Week 3

3 small bumps under my skin and 2 dry pimples. My skin is currently flaking and I have a patch of dry skin on my hand. But nothing that moistruzing can't fix. I think I got this weeks pimples because of eating badly, I ate pizza, nutella, goat cheese with honey. Again I wanted to test if I would get acne but I am not entirely sure if that caused it. My lips are slightly more chapped than last week, I use burts bees on my lips and it does wonders.

Also I thought about something in the past, I always slept on my side before accutane and depending on wich side I was sleeping I broke out. I was thinking that because my face doesn't get air and was very oily at that time it caused pores to clog. Anybody have experience with that? But since my skin reduced in oil now, I don't really have any problems.

Week 4

One month went by so fast. I only have a one dried pimple since I cut out all dairy/sugar again. 90% of the blackheads on my nose are GONE! Can't believe it either, I had so many blackheads on my nose because of my oily skin, and because of my oily skin they would always come back. But this drug is some crazy shit. My skin isn't really flaking unless I use Benzoyl peroxide or wash my face too often with a face wash.

Lips are still the same, sometimes chapped and sometimes not. That's it for this week.

From now on: Yes, I take sugar intake to a minimum, only sugars I eat are fruits/natural sugars that are in food. I will now keep this up for one month to see if there really is a difference.

How is your log going?

a diet free of sugar and dairy will help but take it from me ...if you dont get enough calories you'll loose a lot of weight ...dont make my mistake

as for me i been having a pretty good couple weeks my flare ups were small and less frequent but sadly that didnt last ....last sunday i had a deep pimple in my right cheek (a type of pimples i stopped having a while back) and i got a small breakouts in my left cheek ....SO i decided to up my dose to 20 mg....becuz in my last course i upped my dose around this time and that got me clear by month 4 ( im half way in my third month) .....im going to inform my derm about wanting to upp my dose today.....i just cant take it anymore ....having 97 percent clear skin the last couple weeks was awesome and im done with breaking out and clearing cycle

wish me luck

I feel you man, I know exactly how you are feeling. I make sure to eat enough calories, I eat a lot of rice/chicken/peanut butter lol. But I wont completely cut out sugar, just the sweetened shit like nutella etc. After my second month I have an appointment with my derm and I am going to ask for 20mg too, just to fasten things up.

Best of luck, hopefully you will remain clear after upping to 20mg. Will follow you

Hey man, do you have any pics of your face before your accutane treatment? I'm thinking about going on a low dose course for mild acne and my extremely oily teen skin.

How long is your course going to be as well?

I don't have any pics that clearly shows my skin, I do have pictures but it doesn't show anything. My skin mainly consisted of red marks which are hard to see on a camera with filter etc. If you want you can PM me a pic of your skin and I can tell you if it comes close to my pre-accutane skin.

I have no idea on the duration of my course, However I do know that I want to be on it as long as possible and after I am happy with my results I will take it like 2x a week or something to maintain it.

Ahh so you're planning to never fully go off accutane? Alright, will pm you now.

Week 5

2 small spots on my forehead appeared, one bigger than the other. Controlling it with benzoyl peroxide and AHA (it doesn't irritate my skin). Further down, I am keeping up with no sugar/dairy and it's going fine, I don't have cravings as I simply ask myself if it's worth to consume it and get acne in return: NO. Small patch of dry skin on both of my hands have also appeared. And lips are still the same: chapped and then it heals and then the cycle repeats.

I am using clean & clear advantage cleanser in the morning and evening, it gets the job done.

Months went by and I am now clean and clear. Not a single pimple on my face/back. I was clear around month 4/5, nothing can get me pimples. I ate loads of sugary/dairy foods during a 2 months holiday and I am still clear to this day. Currently maintaining with 20mg ed

Congrats!

I am also on 10mg per day, today is my 6th day.

Dairy products break me out too!

So happy to hear that you can eat them without breaking out

Cannot wait until I reach this point, I miss cheese and icecream
