Hey everyone.
I've had acne since about year 10 when I was 15. It's not really too severe and cystic like some peoples which I have seen on here, which I'm grateful for, however it's very persistent and my skin is the oiliest thing ever.
After a three month referral from my GP, the dermatologist prescribed me Roaccutane and here I am hoping to finally clear my skin.
I've been prescribed 20mg and 40mg on alternative days, to even out around a 30mg average. I'm like the average height for my age but I'm underweight so yeah.
Just wanted to make this so hopefully you guys could give me some support and I could stay determined.
Anyway, thank you for reading this far.
Oh and I've ordered some of the CeraVe products from amazon so hopefully they'll arrive soon, I just can't get to like Cetaphil.
DAY 1
Took my first pill with my tea and nothing so far but I'm a bit nervous for an initial breakouttttttt.
I wish you all the best mate! I too am 17 and finally have my acne under control
just a matter of getting rid of hyperpigmentation now
I'll add you to check up on your progress.
Hi will . Yeah same i think once the acne clears (hopefully) I'll have a lot of hyper pigmentation but I've got some bio oil which will hopefully work on that.
If anyone wants to see any before pictures, I have some on my profile of like a year ago, my acne has come and gone due to treatments since then but it's about the same as it is now really so that's just an idea of my acne.
Anyway, I've just finished WEEK 1.
I haven't really noticed much change, but I've been taking the pill on a full stomach each night. I think I'm starting to get a bit more dead skin than usual and my lips are a bit drier but nothing major, my face just kind of feels like how it was before (it was always quite dry). I really want my oil glands to stop producing the oil lool cus I'm still an oily mess but I'm just going to have to be patient. In terms of an initial breakout, I got some more spots on my forehead like just above my nose and brows and like they decided to all group together. I think my spots are generally dryer now, especially around my mouth, and oh my god i normally wear contact lenses but i put them in for an 8 hour shift at a part time job I have over the weekend, and when I got home and took them out they were SO dry ugh.
I'm currently really confused on skincare though. I've sorted my lips (burts bees) and my hair products which I'll use and things, however i really don't know what skincare brand to use . I use cerave now which I order in off amazon (am and pm moisturising lotion and the hydrating cleanser) but I just want something british that's gentle, non drying, had spf, preferably a line together e.g cerave, that's non comedogenic and is beneficial to the skin like it restores natural ph and makes a barrier. It's just too expensive. I've already tried cetaphil, but they don't do an spf moisturiser and The cleanser isn't really my cup of tea, I just feel like it doesn't clean my skin enough and yeah.
Thanks for reading guys, I'd really appreciate product recommendations :*
Day 12
Oh my Goodness, I literally have the flakiest skin ever. Like when I get out the shower I have a beard of flakes, and it's even on my forehead too. I've just been applying loads of cetaphil moisturising cream to combat this but I still feel really self conscious about the flakes! Does anybody know how long flaking lasts on Roaccutane?
Also, my face is so so so painful to touch right now. Like when I'm washing if I gentle spread my face wash over it, I get the most awful pain and it's actually horrible. I think it's just the crappy painful spots coming up though as a result of Roaccutane, I literally can't wait for the initial breakout to be over because this is the worst skin I've ever had in my life, lol
I've noticed my back becoming quite sore and achey which is kind of annoying because I work eight hours at a checkout every week, which means I have to lean over and things but it could be worse I guess. My lips also seem drier although I've bought some vaseline to help out with out.
There isn't really any more improvements, except my skin is less oily on my nose but still seems to be the same on my forehead? I can't wait for my oily skin to go lool.
Thank you for reading guys
Day 15
I literally feel so hopeless ((((((((((
My face is redder than hell and I look awful. Worst I've ever looked in my life. I want to cry. I have more spots than I've ever had and it's just getting worse. I can see people staring at me and I've had some dumb comments but I've stuck up for myself and shut the ignorant bitches up.
UGHHH can roaccutane plz work and make me cute now
