Day 133 of 40Mg daily. Here's a new picture update of my skin. I'm definitely breaking out a lot less and getting overall less acne, now I just need to wait for all the old spots to heal and lose their redness.

Day 139: I've only gotten one pimple on my face in the past 2 weeks. Only my neck, jawline and back are still breaking out but I have a feeling that will go away soon too. Overall I've had almost zero side effects, except for dry lips of course. It's really been nice waking up in the morning and seeing no new actives on my face.

I know I haven't posted up an update in awhile but Im in month 4 on day 5 and my skin looks way better than day one of accutane. I mean my face is getting clearer about very couple days. Although I have really dry lips, it's all good. I still have chest acne scars that are slowly fading. This I'd my second month on 80mg so at first it was 40mg , then month 2 was 60mg , then month 3 was 80mg, and now I'm in month 4 day 5 of 80mg. The dermatoligist said I'm almost halfway done which is great. So I'm guesinngt I'll be done with accurane in about 3 months. Hope your doing better than day one of accurate

So I got my prescription renewed and in total this will be an 8 month Accutane course for me. Today is day 164 and I have 76 days left of Accutane. I haven't gotten any significant acne in around 3 weeks now and my skin is healing everyday. I'm very confident that after this 8 month course I will hopefully never have to deal with acne ever again. As far as side effects go, I still have the usual dry lips. I love you Accutane

Im on day 6 of month 5 of my accutane journey. I am overall happy with my progress . I don't feel as self conscious about my acne on my face. Overall my face acne is nearly gone except for some hyperpigmentations and red/pink spots. My chest has no little active acne but lots of scarring which I'm hoping my dermatologist will help fix after my course of accutane. I just need a little bit more of accutane to make me 100% satisfied but so far I'm feeling better about myself. I too still havevery dry lips. Although I don't know how much longer I'll take accutane.

Accutane works guys, or at least it does for me. I've only gotten 3 pimples in the span of 1-2 months and only one of those were white heads. I still have approximately 45 days left of Accutane. It's funny how this morning I noticed this tiny white head on my chin and It felt so weird seeing a white head on my face since It's been so long since I have seen one. I really want to post another picture update soon but I'm just really busy and also lazy, but I promise I will post another picture update within the next 45 days.

I'm almost done with month 5 with a few pills to go.I'm happy with no active acne on my face but I have pimple cyst that has shrunken in between my eyebrows which is wondefull. I have lots of scarring on my chest which is my concern, lots of dark spots and some hypertrophic scars. Dark spots on my back and shoulders but those eventually go away. My main concern is my chest scarring, I believe I'm a little over half way done with accutane so I'll see how it goes. happy and feel way better compared to day 1

Well i took my very last Accutane pill on Thursday February 19th. I can't believe it's been over 8 months since I took my first pill. Just to recap I've been taking one 40mg Accutane pill everyday after eating dinner for 8 months (since June 20th). Between month 6 and now I've had maybe 3 pimples that were pretty small and didn't last very long. I plan on posting a picture update of my skin on Monday. Now that I'm off Accutane and not breaking out anymore my skin can finally heal all of the old spots and scars because from what I've read your skin doesn't heal as fast when you're on Accutane. It stills amazes me how just taking this small magical pill once a day got rid of my acne that I thought I would be dealing with for a significant portion of my life. Please give Accutane time to work though guys, especially if you were on a lesser dose like me. I didn't see results until month 5 and I only really stopped getting acne around half way through month 6.

Well as of today it's been 41 days since I've taken my last Accutane pill. Since my last update I've pretty much gotten zero acne except for maybe 2-3 tiny white heads that disappeared within 24 hours. I didn't post any pictures of my back this time because I've been getting zero acne on my back but I still want it to heal more so that when I post my next picture update in a month, you can see the progression even better. Here's the picture of my skin that I took this morning.

My skin is still completely acne free. It's funny how now that my acne is gone and has been gone for over 2 months, I've become super lazy in regards to updating this log. Whereas when I still had acne and was on Accutane, I was more passionate about my acne and i was reading more about acne on the internet and reading other peoples logs and stuff. I guess it's because whenever I used to look in the mirror, i was always reminded about acne and now the concept of having a big ole white head or pimple on my face seems so foreign and weird to me. I can't remember the last time I tried to pop a pimple on my face.

Anyway I will try and post another picture update soon when I'm less lazy

Man I completely forgot a out this blog, my skin cleared up so much but damn now I had a breakout on my face, not horrible but a little on my red cheek and left side but mostly right. I'm not sure if its because I started eating healthy(yea I was eating junk food while on accutane and kinda had a weird diet) but also I've been putting sunscreen and cleansing and idk I think my diet change caused this acne breakout on my face. Man being overall acne free is the best because at least now I feel in control of it where it wasn't the case before,so how have you been.

Here's a couple of pictures that I just took of myself yesterday. As you can see there's completely no acne any-more on my body and face. I've almost been off Accutane for 1 year now and so I highly doubt at this point that my acne will ever come back, and if it does I will gladly go on another long low dose of Accutane again.

Unfortunately I never took any pictures of my acne until I started Accutane so I don't really have any pictures of when my acne was bad enough to compare how my skin is now after Accutane. However you can see some of the pictures I posted in my previous posts when I was still on Accutane and had some acne. I never did have severe acne but it still made my life a living hell and I thought acne was something that I would have to live with for a long time. It still blows my mind that all I had to do was start swallowing these small magical Isotretinoin (Accutane) pills to make my acne go away completely. The acne cure is out there guys, and it may not work for everyone but it does work for some people.

This is probably my last update for a while. If anything changes skin wise then I will post here again. Feel free to ask any questions

That's awesome! The best piece of advice i can give you is to just be patient when waiting for results, especially if you're on a lower dosage. I really didn't see results until around the 7th and 8th month of my treatment.

Hey man. Unfortunately I still have my seborrheic dermatitis but I think it's gotten a little bit better after taking Accutane, still no miracles although I consider having no more acne a miracle :P. But ya it's never gone away, I still get it on my face and scalp sometimes but I do use the creams and shampoos for seborrheic dermatitis far less. Actually I've completely stopped using my medicated shampoo and instead I just use water or head & shoulders shampoo twice a week. But it still does flare up in some areas a bit so I just use a medicated spray. Also the dermatitis on the face on flares up on the crevice of my nostrils.

Basically my acne is gone but the dermatitis has only been weakened. How long was your course of accutane and what was the dosage amount?

Im on 40mg a day for the first month and I know the derm wants me to up to 80mg a day after month one. I am going to ask to stick with 40 mg or only go up to 60mg. My SD is flaring pretty bad right now. My derm thinks it will go away while im on the course and he warned that it might flare up in the beginning.

Was your SD really bad during your course?

I don't remember it being really bad when I first started my course. However it did get bad when I got my Initial Breakout. After the IB my SD went back to normal for the most part.

Hi there!

I was searching about theisotretinoin treatment when I found this forum as I'm about to start it. I'm a little bit afraid of the side effects since they are pretty serious and dangerous :/

What I would like to know is if after you complete the course, all the side effects disappear? Is your skin still sensitive to the sun?

Thanks in advance!

The side effects that you will experience depend on a couple different things. The first thing that determines your side effects in my opinion is what kind of dosage you are on. If you're on a weaker dosage such as 20mg a day or 40mg per day then you will have a lower chance of experiencing side effects compared to someone taking a higher dosage such as 60mg or 80mg per day.

The second thing is that some side effects are extremely common whereas others are really rare and it's just a matter of luck/chance. There's been a lot of controversy in the studies about isotretinoin side effects and some of the serious and dangerous side effects might not even be caused by isotretinoin, plus those side effects are extremely rare anyway so i really wouldn't worry about it.

The most common side effect is dry lips, dry skin, sensitive skin to the sun and maybe a couple of other non-serious things that I can't remember. For me the only side effects I had were dry lips and some dry skin, but no sun sensitivity. From my own experience with isotretinoin and from what I've read about other peoples experiences, the smaller side effects will go away 100% after a while. I think it took like maybe 2-3 months after my treatment for the dry lips to go away.

If you have any other questions please feel free to ask them! Good luck with your treatment and remember to not expect any real results until after you've finished it. Or maybe you will be lucky and get early results!
