Day 1
So I just took my first pill. I feel kind of bad because accutane is supposed to be last resort and I didn't really try all the other options. I mean I did the whole topical route when I was younger to no avail, and my derm prescribed antibiotics but I didn't really take them because apparently they do nothing but mask the problem. So then she basically threw accutane at me. My skin is decent right now. Couple of zits on the left side of my face and 4-5 on my right side, overall my complexion is good. I know it'll probably get worse before it gets better, but I'm just hoping for the best. Thank god I can grow a semi beard as well! but yeah, I'm scared. Really scared. I've seen a lot of my friends go through it successfully so I'm optimistic. I'm just scared about those long term side effects.

but at the same time some of my stuff is clearing up. Such a mix bag. So I'm about 26 days in and my skin looks good. Last week I developed 2 very deep cystic pimples but only 1 is noticeable, overall my complexion looks great. Problem is, I've developed some kind of bloating in my stomach area. It coincided with me starting amoxicillin with the accutane and has only gotten worse. It's really bad right now and you could see my abdomen visibly extended, I even developed a weird stretch mark on the area. Usually I would get bloated for a couple of hours or something, but I've literally been bloated for 6 days straight. I left a voicemail for my dermatologist this morning but for the time being I stopped taking both the antibiotic and the accutane. I hope it goes away. Aside from some backpain, I'm actually really optimistic with the accutane in general and I'd really be devastated if I have to stop.
Update, I am about 40 pills in and my doctor just told me that I'm getting off the medicine for a month. A couple of weeks ago I got an xray and they basically told me that my bloating was due to constipation. Then went back on the accutane and well, the bloating went down significantly for a bit but the past few days have been really bad. So my derm told me to get off it for a month to see if it improves. My skin was seriously looking better recently so I'm extremely devastated. Now I'm even more worried because I could have something called diverticulitis. Fuuuckkkkk. I'm hoping for the best.
