Day 46:

I'm back for another update. So I had a terrible cold the past couple of days. During that cold my skin and lips got super dried out for some reason and a lot of the big zits turned into these weird reddish dead layers of skin. (Not quite scabs but very scab like). When I took a shower a lot of them just fell off naturally. They were bleeding though and leaking that weird clear crap that I still have no clue what it is. So yesterday I was dealing with the after math of that and had all these weird looking scabs on my face which wasn't very cool. Yet it was bitter sweet I suppose because that hopefully was a sign of the ending of this breakout. The redness has kind of toned down once more and I'm left with one active (and many red spots) on the right side of my face and a few actives on the left side.

On another note my cheeks are my ONLY problem area right now. I used to breakout on my chin, near my lips, and on my forehead from time to time but now those areas are completely clear and feel very smooth when washing my face, it's awesome! :)

Also my chest is 100% clear at the moment and my back is getting there.

It seems like all the area where my acne was fairly mild have totally healed up. It's just this stubborn cheek area that has always given me trouble that is still hanging in there. But I know that soon accutane will catch up to it and just whoop it's ass! Lol that moment just can't come soon enough! Ill update with another progress picture in the coming week. I'm hoping for big improvements by then!

What day did you start? Sounds like you may have started the same day as my son. Today he's on day 47 I think. I know exactly what you're talking about with all the bleeding/oozing scabs etc. It's so gross. He's still breaking out but might be finally turning a corner. Still has a long way to go though. This is tough but hopefully it will be worth it in the end. I'm so tired of it already! And yes, your skin does become very thin & fragile so be careful.

Hello! If I remember correctly I received my medication on the 3rd of April and started on the 4th. Does your son have a log on here as well? I know there was one other guy on here that also started on the same day as me who had a log but I haven't seen him update in a while. It seems like your son and I are in about the same situation as far as progress goes! Haha

But I wish your son good luck throughout the rest of his course and I hope he (and I!) starts seeing some great results in a very short time!

Day 55:

It's been nine days since my last update and I have made some pretty good progress I would say. My right cheek is clear of actives and two are healing on my left. But a few days before I was clear on both sides. On a bad note I have to big ones.. One on my forehead and one under my lip. The one on my lip stings which is incredibly annoying. But my right side looks particularly good. Seems like pih is starting to fade due to the absence of any actives. My left side is still quite red. I have my next derm appt in 5 days so we will see how that goes and if she decides to bump me up again. But I wouldn't mind staying at 80mg a day for the next two months. I'll update with a picture soon!

No my son doesn't have a log. He started on April 2. So, today is day 57 for him. He goes back to derm on June 3. He is still breaking out with pretty big cysts. Face is improved (but far from clear) but neck/back are still awful raw and getting very painful cysts there. This is tough and I hate it. It's been very discouraging. He weighs 140-145 and is now taking 60mg/day. Derm says he will be on it at least 6 months. Since he's still growing, his dosage might have to be changed I suppose. I just want it to get better :(

Day 58: frustrating. That's how I'd describe today. It seems like every time I make plans with friends my acne takes a turn for the worse. That big one on my lip is a giant red scab that keeps ripping open every time I eat and is so red. It literally looks like I have herpes. I'm developing another one on my left cheek that'll probably be in full bloom by the time I'm out and my face looks redder then usual. Acne just pisses me off. What evolutionary purposes does this bullshit serve?? I'm heading in to month 3 so I really really hope this will be the magic month that everyone says it is. I can't handle much more breaking out.

Omgosh, I feel you!! My boy just finished day 62 and he's still breaking out with quite large cysts. Face is better, and has been clearing from the top down, but man oh man his neck/shoulders/chest and back are something awful. I'm getting so tired of cleaning all the blood off of his shirts & pillowcases. Did I already ask you if you have any back or chest acne? I too am being cautiously hopeful about month 3. I have heard things really start turning around during days 60-70. Or month 3-4. But I also know it's the cumulative dosage that really matters. Ugh.

I started on April 5, so I think we are in the same boat here too. My face was looking *okay* but this morning, almost 2 months done it looks like shit again.

I too am hoping month 3 starts to see some permanent improvement.

I'll be following your log, good luck!

Day 75:

Sorry it's been a while since I've last updated! I guess that's a good sign for most logs lol. The past 20 days have been pretty good to me! I've had little to no actives (about one tiny active every 5 days) and my PIH is slowly but surely fading. Unfortunately I do have a painful one developing on the side of my nose right now but oddly enough there are no visible signs of it just that massive zit pain every time you move your face. I'll try to update more but it's hard to remember to update when there is no real need to vent :)

Day 79:

Alright so face is looking about the same as my last update but I wanted to post a picture of the rashes on my arms to see if anybody knows how to deal with this kind of problem. I've been having these weird rashes for about 3 weeks now but it has gotten pretty bad these past few days. There are a lot of little tiny bumps and it gets itchy sometimes although I try not to scratch. How can I get rid of this???? Any help is appreciated!

its accutane induced eczema. i had it throughout my course. Some hydrocortizone cream (steroid cream)should help.

Slap moisturizer on there as many times as you can in a day and it will start to clear up. Hydrocortisone cream will do the trick too

Day 101

Looks like I hit the 100 day mark and I must say - life is good. I have not had any actives for over a month now and if I had one then it was so tiny it wasn't even worth noting. I can say definitely say this is the clearest I have been for the longest time! I still do have a ton of PIH however but it does seem to be fading a bit especially because of the absence of actives. Anyone know any tricks to rid of PIH???

This will be my last month of accutane. I'm moving to the states in two weeks and don't feel like going through the hassle of finding a new derm and continuing accutane. I will have hit my mg/kg mark once I finish this month which seems to be the most important anyways. I weigh 65kg and took 40mg the first month and 80mg throughout the rest of the course.

My life has definitely changed after being on this miracle pill. No longer do I look at myself in the rear view mirror or take bathroom breaks only to look at how horrible my face looks. I don't have to worry about anytime someone or something touches my face. I can talk to people without worrying about them seeing that huge whitehead on the side of my face. I can eat whatever, drink whatever, sleep whenever. Although my face isn't perfect yet, it has come a long way and I am very happy with the results.

I'm looking forward to finishing the rest of my course and I will take some pictures once the PiH fades to show the end results :)

Thanks for all of the support everybody! :)
