hey bro, so i just looked at your video. Your body acne seems to be similar to mine, except i have a shitload of discoloration (but i am brown skin, while you are white skin, so maybe discoloration shows up more on me than you).
I might take accutane bro... but i am scared
How old are you? the fact that i'm 20 and my acne shows no sign of going away is one of the main reasons i decided to go for it. Before this is was happy to leave it to go on its own, but since it got worse and worse, and spread more to areas i care about (Chest and face acne matters to me way more than back/shoulders did) i decided it was time to give accutane a chance.
It's a pretty big decision to make but it could potentially mean that in ~6 months your skin is clear. I've learnt to deal with having sh*tty skin, but i can tell you if this treatment is successful i'll be SO happy.
bro i am 22 years old. I just recently started getting acne like yours (on the body) about a year and half ago.
Basically, i dont know if i will grow out of it, accutane might be the only hope..
If i were in your position i'd absolutely go for it. BUT, theres a risk involved with it so it's got to be a decision you make yourself.
Hey just thought id send you a message see how you're getting on. Its a month now since we started. Nose bleeds are still happening and my lips are dry but my skin is quite clear. It feels very soft and not that dry although it has got a weird shiny apperance, covered with makeup of course. Id ring them and ask for some more, you don't want a gap now its in youre system!! x
Ugh, i feel awful. Not because of the accutane, but i'm ill and the accutane probably isnt helping. I have sinusitis according to my doctor - have had it for about 3 weeks but i only went t othe doctor yesterday cause i figured it would go away on its own. It hasn't so i got some antibiotics from the doctor (doxycycline suprisingly - hello my old friend). I also have some sort of eye infection so with the sinus pain and the eye pain the entire left hand side of my face feels like it's been punched repeatedly...
As well as that, i have a cold sore - turns out those dont heal very fast on accutane lips too, so that's yet another illness.
Hopefully the doxy will clear up my eye and sinuses and the cold sore will go away and i'll be back to normal - but for the past week or so i've felt like absolute sh*te.
Hey, sorry i havnt updated for so long. Havnt been on acne.org for a while - i've just been gonig through the motions of taking my pills each day. Heres what i just sent to whoartthou1:
"Im about 7 weeks in and my back is noticably better. I still have lots of red marks and scars but hardly any new spots are forming. My chest and face are also much better as well as my shoulders. I'm nowhere near clear but im at the point where i can definitely see signs that it's working.
As for sides - i got ill a few weeks ago and i think being on accutane made it feel much worse, but now that im over that it's just a case of dry lips, dry skin etc. No depression or anything crazy like that. My eyes have been very dry so i've just gone out and bought some rehydrating eye drops - i hate putting things in my eyes thoughso i havnt tried them yet.
Basically i'd say 'so far, so good'"
I am on the 10th day. I have no dry lips at the moment. I am really scared.
All the medication I have taken so far work for first-two weeks and then stop working (my body does respond at all).
I dont want this to happen when I am taking accutane (40mg).
I have no dry lips. Do you guyz this it is working for me?
I hope you were off the accutane when you were out on doxy? You absolutely cannot mix te two they should have given you a penicillin.
Doctor told me i should keep taking my accutane - where did you hear that you can't take both together? It was only a week long course so maybe its different? (compared to being on doxy long term for acne)

10 days is nothing, don't worry if you're not seeing sides yet (be thankful! lol). How much do you weigh? im 66kg and started on 40mg too, The dry lips will probably come in the next week or 2 - try to buy some lip products in advance cause chapped lips are annoying as hell.
What planned dosages do you have to take? I am thinking about going on a low dosage (5 to 10 mg a day)
40mg for the first 3 months, then i dunno what he's gonna give me for the rest of the course. Why would you take such a low dose? If you're gonna take a drug like accutane surely you may as well do it in the way that's known to work?

I weight 70 kg and 6 ft tall. I am just worried cause it is costing me $70 every month.

I am not a doctor buy I would say that take 10 mg. 10 mg is low dose.
There is no harm taking both antibiotic and accutane at the same time, I had a terrible initial breakout in 2nd week of accutane and my derm did put me on Azithromycine for 2 weeks and i wasn't taken off of accutane. I took them both 250mg azithromycine and 20mg isotretinoin. And i got rid of my very bad initial breakout in just 1 n a half week.

Good to know, thanks.
UPDATE: I guess i'm more than 2 months in now, awesome
My lips went through an awesome phase of barely being dry for the last couple of weeks - unfortunately that has ended and now they're SUPER dry.
My acne is way better, i've been wearing a vest to the gym without the fear that people will think i have some deadly disease lol. Scars are still everywhere but my body acne has decreased HUGELY and facial acne is far less too. Love this drug so far.
Only bad side is that i seem to need way more sleep - 8 hours never feels like enough
Glad to see you are handling it well with a proper attitude. You really just gotta embrace and go for it. Second course here and I am here to tell you-you will be stunned when its all said and done.
oh and to add to your chapstick collection-I think carmex is the best. I don't think aquaphor is anywhere close to the product some folks on here say it is. Best of luck

Glad to hear that your acne is starting to clear up for you. Also keep up the postive attitude mate.
I start tane in 2 days. Holy shit im nervous lol
Mate what dose are you starting at?
Also if you want I could send you a few pictures, before/early weeks and current, of my chest and shoulders to show you the improvements they've had. I remember you were bothered about your body acne, so maybe that could give you encourage about the results it can bring. I'd send it as a private message though, not that comfortable to post them in a general forum setting.
Good luck with your course
Took some of these photos to monitor my gym progress rather than accutane progress so you'll have to excuse the flexing but i was quite shocked by the difference so far:
Before: These were actually back in april so they dont show you the worst my back ever was:
After: This is now - i started accutane on september 12th so im about 2.5months in. The lighting hides a lot of scars but even considering that, my back looks way better
