It Should Have Been Day 86

Hello guys!

the last weeks i had so but so many things to do at school, lots of homework. to study a lot and i couldn't post here.

but now i'm here and not with good news sad.png

yesterday i had an appointment with my derm and he said that my face doesn't look good after 3 months of treatment(i was something like /: ) really?! i'm only finishing the third month(/9) with 20mg/day and you say that i should have a beautiful face?! but i didn't say anything haha)

And hee gave me a week of antibiotics (Metronidazole 3*20mg/day) so i have to stop taking Sotret this week.(only)

Furthermore i have to stop using the Isotrexin gel until i finish the new cream he gave me Metrocr¨me ( http://ivatherm.com/...-metrocreme.php )

It's so annoying when everyone tells you how bad your skin looks! god! i have mirror home too!

i asked my derm yesterday if food affects the acne, but he said not really and that i can drink milk(no more than 1l/day) and it's said that dark chocolate is good for people with acne :\ but is not good to eat fast foods and fatty meat(i do not eat this).

i do not drink milk or any dairy product because 1 year ago a dermatologist told me that these may be a cause of my acne, along with chocolate, nuts, peanuts, seeds and chips.( and i haven't been eating these since then)

but this fall i started to eat again Danette not every day and not more than one once but it's with chocolate ( have you heard about it? it's a cream desert this, is my weakness :" >), and chocolate horns sometimes and i drunk hot chocolate when i was cold but

i'm done with these!! maybe these worsened my acne again.

and now about side effects:

  • my lips are very dry but i'm using lip balm all the time

  • i had terrible shoulders pain, i mean it's like my shoulder bones hurt, but i think that my schoolbag is causing it too becauseeeeeeeeeee it is sooo heavy( yesterday it had 6 kg!!!)

  • i'm so tired but again it's because of the school i'm sure.

I think your derm is wrong... try asking for a second opinion, I don't think you have to have good results after 3 months or the treatment needs to be stopped... as long as you're doing blood tests and they come up fine you're good to go.

You're on low dose which means it might take longer to see results... I believe you should keep taking it.

Even if you don't, do not worry... usually after you stop it the breakout you're currently "stuck" in will fly by and even the small dose you took will have its impact and your acne will be better than before.

Don't let your spirit down for even a second, I can tell by your pictures how pretty you are - a lot of girls would have liked to be you... you don't have clear skin and you probably can't see it yet but you'll get your clear skin and I'm quite sure you'll come back here after you're booked for some modeling agency. (I'm not just writing that to make you feel good - I usually hate to flatter people).

I saw a lot of comments here regarding the low-dose... I live in Israel and the doctors here are very lenient with accutane (basically they give it to anyone who wants it) for the past 10 years. I really believe doctors here are the #1 in accutane prescriptions around the world. They have tons of experience with it. I really can't understand all the people who get 80-120mg per day from their derms... I read all the side-effects online and that just seems insane, really insane... why don't you just take the cumulative dose in day 1 and that's all? You can also tell by reading online that all those that suffered harsh long-term life-changing side effects basically took a dosage that could kill a horse.

Derms here realized the cumulative dose isn't a necessity... as a matter of fact they don't even aim for that. The popular way of treating someone here is giving them 20mg/day for the first month and 0.5*body weight for the rest 5 months. They rarely go for treatment longer than 6 months (only if you're not clear already). If you're clear before the 6 months they might give you one more month but then you stop it. (which means you might even stop taking it on your 3rd month).

So I wouldn't worry so much about your dose and the amount of time you'll have to take it... I would be pissed though that he stopped you in the middle of it... try getting a second opinion and in any case don't let it worry you.

hey! i didn't write clearly but i have to stop only a week while i'm taking antibiotics. believe me, i would not accepted to put me off for ever!! he knows that at first we did not agree with this medicine and now if i started i want!! to finish it.

that's why i did not expect to see result in 3 months of treatment, maybe other pacients who had not so serious acne like me were clear in 3 month but it is no my case.

and even i will be clear in 6 month i want to reach my cumulative dose, whayever he says hahaha i want to be sure

Hun, the only reason that you are not yet seeing results is because it is such a low dose. Most derms know to start low but will increase withing weeks to a month. Note sure why your derm is waiting to increase dosage (its been 3 month). You don't want to stretch treatment out longer than you have to.

Have your parents speak to him about increasing the dosage, especially if your side effects are manageable.

well i asked him too about this but he will not increase my dose and finnaly i accepted it. it's not a big problem for me doing a 9 months tratment instead of 6 as lons as i'll have e clear face.

Regarding dosage I think its better to trust your doctor since theres always more than one opinion on things. However I see that you're also taking a cream or gel supplementing with sotret where most people just avoid any cream or harsh medication during accutane. There some possible reason why you're still breaking out maybe its the cream that irritating you? Since accutane is a powerful drug normal creams that are irritating may get worst?

Maybe the doctor doesn't want you to experience a harsher initial breakout when compared to higher dosage? The dosage your on now may be your body reacting to the drug but eventually it should die down since you're taking a longer course.I reckon a longer course where your'e clear would help prevent with the acne coming back since your skin becomes accustomed to not breaking out.

So I recommend you ask the doctor every question that your unsure of and ask him to explain everything because that more important than doctors giving in to every patient demanding medicine which happens a lot.So good luck ! You'll get even more prettier in no time !

DAY 87

Hey guys! How are you?

I'm not so good because i have pneumonia and I'm taking injections.

I've stayed home since Thursday and i took antibiotics (augmentin 1000/62.5 mg -- augmentin is amoxiciclin and clavulanate ) but yesterday i went to my gp and he said i have pneumonia and I need to take 5 days injections (DEXAMED 8mg/2ml (dexamethasone) only once/day and CLINDAMYCIN 2* 300mg/2ml and this one i take twice/day)

and i stay only in bed, I'm writing this from the phone and i haven't how to upload photos of my face

I don't know if I'm the only who see this but since i don't use ISOTREXIN in the evening and I'm using METROCREME which is for redness and inflammation my face doesn't look so bad and red and the cysts i have aren't so big like before .

Yesterday i started again with SOTRET and maybe the improvement is because of the antibiotics that my derm. gave me too

Aren't you more sensitive since are taking ACUTANE? Is it just me? ':(

maybe tomorrow or the day after tomorrow i will post new photos

Take care!!

I hope you feel better soon! I'm sorry you are feeling so bad. As far as your skin goes, it's probably best to wait until you are no longer sick and no longer taking the antibiotics before you decided what your skin is going to do. Just hang in there and take care of yourself first, then worry about your face later!

I know the feeling about hating the red spots!! I have them too, but the first step to real clearing is having everything smoother with fewer active pimples. Your skin is definitely improving!!!! It is a little red (mine too) but I can tell its flattening out. Also, I don't think your blackheads are bad at all! Also, it's too early to tell if the red spots will be true scars. If they stay flat (and not pitted), they may just be PIH and fade totally away with time. That's what I'm counting on, so don't be discouraged! :)

I'm glad you are feeling better too. Being sick is NO FUN.

Take care!

Of course your skin doesn't look the way you'd like with all the red spots, but I also notice HUGE improvement since your last pictures.

Hold on girl, I really believe the worst is being you and that there's nothing but improvement ahead.

My acne was horrible and noduley/cysty like yours (see my log!) but now I'm left with NO scars. You're on your way! :) x x x

Day 107

Hello guys! How are you?

I've been so busy the last weeks and i had no time to write here...but here i am now!! : )

My face i think it's better than 2 weeks ago and i'm so curious what will say my derm the next week when i have an appointment.

i still have the nodules on my left cheek but they are not so big like at the begining

my forehead and my nose are ok ( in my opinion hahah)

i have on my jawline some whiteheads and i don't know what to do with them, what to use on them...

and my cheeks uff lots of scars that i cannot hide. and because of the cold weather they are more red : ( : (

but since i'm using Metrocreme instead of Isotrexin Gel they are not so accentuated

i wish i had clear skin:<

Hey! yes still on 20mg and no i'm not on any BC, i've never been on it. I stopped using Isotrexin and i'm using Metrocreme now (it is for facial redness and inflamation) and my face is better since then.

I hope so:)!!

Hey is 20mg/day part of your cumulative dose? I was also on 20mg/day for around three months and it calmed my acne down, and lessened my initial breakout. My derm put me on the dose to prevent a horrible initial breakout and more scarring.

Also if your whole treatment is on 20mg/day, it could be related to your weight and there was someone who had success with 20mg/day (there would be others, just can't say that I've read all the logs on here). By that I just mean don't compare your dose to a 70-80kg person.

Good luck with your course, and your acne looks calmer.

Hey! I just read your whole experience thus far and must say that you are one tough cookie! I know how hard it is right now and it just seems like a vicious battle that you can't win but I promise you that you will win it! Your skin is looking better and I genuinely feel like if you just tough it out a bit longer you will have one month where your acne completely clears up! Also, I remember my last course was really hard too. It seemed like my face was CONSTANTLY breaking out so I canned it thinking that it no longer worked for me and within a month of stopping all my acne was gone along and within two months all of the red marks were gone too. I couldn't believe it. My skin plumped out as I thought I was going to have definite scarring but they all pretty much went away and yours will too...I promise! Looking back now I do wish I would have toughed it out another couple of months. Anyways, you hang in there because I KNOW your face will fully recover from this disease and you will have great skin...it just doesn't happen when we want it too.

I agree, I started off on 20mg which was great but then it was increased to 20mg one day and 40mg the next, still isn't that high but I could feel it working a lot better when it was increased...

I would defiantly talk to your derm about increasing the dosage absolutely.
