Day 5

My lips are definitely starting to dry out today. I've been using my Jack Black Intense Therapy Lip Balm in Vanilla & Lavender for right now. I love that stuff. My face doesn't feel dry, but I suppose it is drying out since my chin (which usually gets a little oily during the day) hasn't been oily at all.

No other side effects right now. Hooray for no headaches!

Day 6

Definitely starting to dry out. I'm kind of excited?

What I'm not so excited about? I have four new zits. Grr! One is on my nose between my nostrils and it hurts. Lol. Two are little red bumps along my jawline. And I have a whitehead on my cheek that is definitely getting popped with a hot washcloth in the morning! Perhaps I'm getting my IB? Who knows...

Nothing else going on. I'm feeling great! No headaches or anything.

Yay!!! Maybe it is your IB already? I'm a day behind you and things are seriously clearing up fast, aside from the fact that my really stubborn cysts/nodules haven't gone down. The little pimples have been blasted away. Is your face getting red at all yet? Mine is more red than usual after I wash my face. It kind of alarms me, but then I see that pimples are popping faster and healing faster in a weird way. Did you experience this with your spots? It's kind of amazing actually.

Sounds like we're both seeing results on 40 mg. I kind of hope I stay at this dosage because it's working fast, and I haven't had any pains or weirdness at all. Had a headache as well today but I just took some Advil and it went away. :)

Keep us posted!

That's great to hear your little pimples are gone! Hopefully the cysts go away soon!

If this is my IB then I'm glad it's only small spots and nothing big and angry. Lol. Since my skin is really fair, it turns red pretty easily, but I haven't noticed more redness than usual. However, my face still hasn't completely dried out yet. It still feels a little oily in places. I haven't noticed anything healing faster. I got a zit along my hairline last week and it's still hanging around. Perhaps things will start healing better once I actually dry out.

I haven't experienced any bad side effects on 40mg yet either, so I'm okay with staying at this dosage. It seems like it'll do its job just fine!

Day 7

I've been using Aquaphor like crazy today for my lips. They're pretty dry. I hope they don't get drier than this, but I assume they will... They aren't cracked or bleeding since I've been doing a good job of keeping them moisturized. I've never been able to stand the feeling of my lips without lip balm or gloss, so this is incredibly irritating to me!

My face doesn't feel dry at all. I never had an issue with oily skin before Accutane. The only area of my face that would get noticeably oily was my chin and it was only a little oil. That hasn't changed. My chin is still getting a little oily during the day.

The zits that popped up over the weekend seem to be healing already. I put some Neosporin (the original ointment) on them last night. And I did put a salicylic acid spot treatment on them this morning since my skin hasn't dried out yet.

I seriously need some Aquaphor right now... ohno.gif

Dang! Weird how dried out your lips are already, and how the medicine is affecting everyone differently. :) My eyes are SO dry, but my lips and skin are only a teeeeensy bit dry. I do notice the rapid healing of spots already as well. It's really strange, and exciting. I hope our lips don't crack and bleed...that does NOT sound kissable. Hahaha

And by weird, I only meant how unpredictable it all is. :)

Kind of random, but after only taking one pill out of the box so far... I already know I despise the packaging! I don't have any pill containers, so I actually searched for some nice ones on Amazon. I found the Apex Pocket Med Pack with 7 Day Tray and ordered it this morning. I figured it would be convenient since I'm taking one pill in the morning and one at night. Plus, the colors are pretty! tongue.png

LOL. Yeah, they are a pain in the butt. I've tried both Amnesteem and Clavaris and the Clavaris pills are easier to get out. But I like the Amnesteem pills because they're smoother and easier to swallow.

Also, I noticed on my box that it says to keep the pills out of the light; not sure how critical that is or if it's only Clavaris that says that. Just something for you to consider.

Good luck on your journey!

Day 8

Nothing new to report. My face still doesn't seem dry, but my lips require constant application of Aquaphor or my Jack Black lip balm.

The zits I got over the weekend are still lingering. Go away! goaway.gif

It's definitely unpredictable! Who know what will happen next... Sorry to hear your eyes are really dry! That sounds so uncomfortable. I'm keeping my fingers crossed I don't experience that. I'd hate having to put eye drops in my eyes!

And cracked and bleeding lips definitely aren't kissable! Lmao!

Really? I can't imagine any package being harder to open than the Claravis ones! Man, I hate them!

I do keep my pills in the little pill cases, but I tuck them away in a dresser drawer so they aren't exposed to light. Definitely don't need anything happening to these pills! I wonder what light does to them exactly...

And thank you! :)

Haha yeah I can't imagine a box tougher than Claravis one! I think some of the other generics come in gel caps so maybe that's why sun matters it will melt the capsul or something..

I put mine in a drawer as well. I know that some lotions and serums ask you to store in a dark place because light causes them to lose some potency. Maybe this is the case with pills as well.

Yeah, that's what I assumed. Probably a good thing I have to keep them out of the light, otherwise I'd have them out in the open. And I have a four-year-old sister that definitely can't be getting into my pills! Lol.

She actually saw them one day and asked me what I was taking medicine for. I told her they're to get rid of my zits! She likes to point out whenever I have a zit on my face. Thaaaanks, sis!

Haha omg that would drive me NUTS. When my acne was really bad, the worst feeling in the world was when little kids would just STARE at my face as I walked by. I'm sure after I left they would ask their mommies what was wrong with my face or something...and then the Mom would have to explain it like she was explaining how people make babies or why the sky is blue. Yeah....now I'm starting to sound crazy, eh? teehee.gif

I was also oddly paranoid about taking the pills out of their original boxes and putting them in a separate container. I thought about drawing a skull and crossbones on it or something. Haha But then I realize, it's just me, my fiance, and our kitty. So I just can't leave any pills out cause of the kitty.

I hope your don't get dry eyes, too!

The Amnesteem and Clavaris packages are similar, but for the Amnesteem package - imagine the Clavaris package, but without being able to get your finger under the tab to rip it off without using something like a screwdriver to pry it up. Also imagine finally getting a hold of the tab and peeling it off, but only to find the paper peeled off and not the foil beneath. Then imagine trying to somehow tear into the plastic-lined foil to get to the pill, without stabbing the pill or something -_-.

/grievances tongue.png

But otherwise, no complaints about Amnesteem. It worked well and the I liked swallowing the pill more, which is a fair trade-off for the less user-friendly packaging.

Yeah, kitty does not need Accutane!! I have two dogs and they definitely don't need to get into it either.

Claravis blister packs are like Fort Knox. Literally. Also, my room is littered with scary anti-pregnant lady tabs. Hope your course is going well! My lips are just starting to REALLLLY dry out this week and I've been having lower back pain, but if it stays like this I'll definitely deal.

Holy crap. I was so itchy today. I tried some Aveeno lotion my mom has, which definitely helped.

My face still isn't dry. It's looking a bit better though. Always a good thing.

My skin has been itchy too, especially since I started exfoliating. I use nivea cream, it doesn't sting at allll and is so gentle, around the eyes as well. its a little thing but I love the texture, and smell!

Btw, do you like the jack black lip balm??

And would you mind posting a picture of the Aquaphor because I can't seem to find it anywhere where i live :s, maybe because I don't know what I'm looking for lol....

okay I just googled it haha. I have seen that in stores but I thought it was lotion...or is that what you use on your lips as well?

The aquaphor has a ointment and a cream and a product just for the lips. What most of us use is a regular ointment on the lips. I have the lip stuff from them and I'm not a fan. I prefer the regular ointment. I'm not sure if it's meant for the lips but that's what the derm told me to use. I usually find it with the bandaids. Sometimes pharmacies keep it behind the counter too.

I cannot stand the itchiness!! My face hasn't been itchy though, just my body. I had been using two different Olay lotions until I tried the Aveeno one tonight.

I love the Jack Black lip balm. It works well and it stays on for a while. I do reapply it often though.

I've been using the Aquaphor Healing Ointment on my lips. It's for your lips and your skin. I buy it in the little tubes and keep one in my bag when I'm out. I can't find their Lip Repair in my local Rite Aid. I haven't tried looking anywhere else yet, but you can find get it from Amazon if you can't find it in stores. The Healing Ointment works great though if you can't find the Lip Repair. I assume the Lip Repair actually has an applicator tip, which the ointment does not.

I was able to find the healing lip ointment at target.. It does have a application tip like you mentioned. Which is nice instead of using your finger.

I am going out tomorrow to get some bag balm and I am going to try that for my lips. People seem to really like it so I figure I'll give it a shot. I was talking to my mom about it and she was like oh my god I sell that at my store. She manages a fabric store called Hancock fabrics and I guess they sell it for the knitters. So woo hoo I am getting me some bag balm.

I hope you can find it! Aquaphor and the Jack Black lip balm are definitely my essentials right now!

That Aveeno cream doesn't sound good! The lotion I borrowed from my mom last night was just okay. I didn't like the smell and it felt greasy hours later. It helped with my itchiness though, but I definitely won't be using it again!

I've heard about the Bag Balm stuff, but I haven't tried it. I'll have to try it out when my lips get really dry. But it still weirds me out that it was originally for cows! Lol!

I also ordered that Cure Natural Aqua Gel stuff I've seen a few people mention on this forum. I ordered it through Amazon on Tuesday and it'll be here today, so I'm excited to try it out! I've heard a lot of good things about it.
