Keep it up! If you ever feel down just remember that at least now you're doing something to fix the problem =).

I know that will keep me going as well. I just started today and I'm about to make my own blog. Will be checking out everyone's on a regular basis.

Ahh congratulations! I'll keep an eye on your log too... How bad is your skin at the mo?GOOD LUCK!!

x x

Very dry, red and lots of faint marks from when I used to pick it a 1-2 years ago. Spots are common but only in small droves.

We're lucky that the Christmas holidays are coming up! That means no work or studying for 2 weeks, so if my skin does break out hopefully it's within that and not after!

Hiya 🙂 yeah I think we're pretty similar days wise, but you're on a much higher dose (80mg/day is it?) I'm on 30 mg/day...so my side effects have been minimal so far.

So 30 mg/kg is about 0.5 mg/kg for me...how much do you weigh, are you at 1 mg/kg or higher?

My acne is much more severe too 🙁 alas so I feel I'm gonna take a much longer time to clear than you! x x

DAY 23

Haven't done a picture update for a while... admitedly due to the yaz breakout which I want to pretend in my picture diary never happened!

Have been comparing my pics and I think I can see improvement !!!! Compared to day 13 that monstrous spot upon spot upon spot is healing finally on my Left cheek yay!! Can't get excited as I know there will be a hell of a lot of breakouts to come before clear time settles in...

Still about 4 actives R but only 1 L which is normally my worst side... Let me know what you think.... :/

*****OK so the upload thing has gone bonkers and says I cant upload any pics which are bigger than 1 KB..thats ridiculous....does anyone know how to embed pics into the post like other people do? i.e. not having to click on a link? x x****

Lol I know what you mean. What I do is just resize my photos to 500x500 and then it automatically uploads :)

We must have commented on each other's log at the same time :) um, see at the bottom of the text box there's the words 'Attach Files'? and a paperclip picture, click upload (make sure your pics are 500x500, that's what I do to mine to make them fit), and then click the 'Attach This File' button under it.

Hope that helps!!

Oh weirdly im getting a little really sore red dry path right next to my left eye outer corner... not sure if you can see on the pic? Keep moisturising it every hour or so but it wont go (even cetaphil makes it sting) .. not worn any make up or used any eye make up remover or anything as I've been stuck indoors revising... anyone else had this? x x x

It may be a skin rash. Is it itchy?

Nope not at all itchy just a tiny, sore little dry red patch... probably just similar to the nose/lips thing but as its the eye skin its a lot more stingy! x x

That red patch is eczema and it is a fairly common side effect. I had a patch of it on my stomach in my first month. My derm prescribed a cream called Vanos and it cleared right up. She told me to make sure to really moisturize well to keep it from happening again. It sounds like you are moisturizing, perhaps your face wash is too harsh...? I use moisturizing/hydrating everything right now to keep my skin from drying out; so far it's working! I'm using: CeraVe Hydrating face wash, Aveeno daily moisturizing body wash and I use Eucerin body lotions (the SPF one during the day). I keep my face pretty well moisturized too with the things I have listed below.

Anyway, see if your derm can give you something for the eczema on your face and just be really gentle with your skin afterward so it won't happen again.

Good luck and I can't wait to see you start clearing up!

ya i still have it and my course has been done for 5 months now. I get it because i'm washing my face harshly around that area or because it gets itchy and i scratch at it. It disappears by the end of the day usually.... no biggy. And i'm still acne free. I use a maintenance system (retin-a micro 0.04%) at night time, it's worth it and it fades any smalls marks. Some have no signs of acne while others have a relapse within months-1 year later, so a maintenance system is definitely appropriate. There are so many people that come back complaining how Accutane didn't cure their acne -_- and it could have been prevented with a maintenance system. BUT if you don't want to follow that, of course that's your choice. By the way good luck and hope your course goes as smooth as mine!

Lol. I don't know the weight per mg/kg thing. I'm 118 Ibs. I know it's pretty high for me. I guess he's starting me out high this time because I was on accutane last time and this is my second course, even though last time he started me on 40mgs 1st month and 80 for the next 4 months. Hopefully I'll be completely clear this time . And as far as the acne thing goes, mine was alot worse before I went on my first course, however it still didn't get great but it was improvement but I do have redness which makes things alot worse !

DAY 27

First monthly dermatologist appointment tomorrow woop!

Skin kind of stabilising at around 1-3 actives each side the last week or so which is good for me....the hyperpigmentation scars make it look like it hasnt improved though...

Eye corner soreness has cleared for now.... but itchy dry hot hand rash has come :( Its very manageable with moisturiser though so not too worried...

Hopefully I'll get bumped up to 60mg/day tomorrow...we shall seeeeeee

Have hyperpigmentation all over my cheeks but when i touch them they're so smooth

but with time the redness will be gone 🙂

Same as me. So many marks and though smoother than with acne obviously- my cheeks are a bit indented. Just starting my 2nd month on 20mg.

DAY 29 START OF MONTH 2!!

Sooo I'm not preggers and my side effects are minimal so i've been given my prescription to start on 60mg/day...I'm only going to take 40 mg daily until Sunday however as I have both an exam, and my Dad's 60th on Saturday so I don;t want to risk feeling like crap for either of these!

Skin has taken a little downturn last couple of days wth 2 new cysts high up on my cheekbones on both sides (weird)...and a couple of new jawline cysts too :( ...however they dont seem to be staying as long as before, think my skin turnover and healing time has quickened since being on accutane...hope they go before the weekend... It might be because I'm due on my period soon, now i'm not on BC pills thats probably gonna be normal for me to be worse around this time of the month..better than worse at EVERY time of the month on yaz before!!

They didnt need a blood test this month, they need one for next month...apparently my trigkycerides and cholesterol were quite low before I started so my derm isnt worried at all... fingers crossed they'll be ok after a few christmas sherries :/

Woop still feeling pretty positive even though havent really seen any results yet...glad i've been bumped up, hopefully I'll see some real results after another 2 months. :/

Arghh! I want to do another photo update but it says I have used 3.88MB of my 3.91MB of my global upload quota so wont let me!

Surely over the course of a whole log which lasts many pages you should be given more quota to post with than that?...I think there's a glitch in my system...I assume its supposed to be 3.91MB per POST not per log?

What amount of quota do you guys get?

DAY 33

Sooooo been on 60mg per day for five days now and has been pretty uneventful so far... I did miss yesterdays dose by mistake as I had an exam in the morning in one city, and then had a surprise 60th birthday party to organise for my Dad in the afternoon/evening in another city so in the stress and running around kinda forgot!!..I took an extra 20mg this morning by way of compensation but thought would be silly to take the full extra 60...

Breaking out a bit more I think maybe, back to having quite a few actives 3/4 each side but they are so much less painful than they used to be... It is a joy to wash my face now not something I dread like before, and can sleep at night on a pillow without pain too to that's a success in my eyes even if my face looks no better...

I think my face is generally smoother...but the hyperpigmentation seems darker so with make up its maybe even more noticeable than it used to be..I don't mind so much as I feel I'm going in the right direction... not wincing with pain and welling up with tears from just the pressure of water from the shower on my face, or from gently applying foundation is worth darker scars...FOR NOW...If they're still here in a couple of months I will not be so HP forgiving !!

Itchy hand rash comes and goes, not a major bother, as long as I cetaphil well in the morning face isn't too dry rest of the day apart from that one naughty patch left of my mouth... Its so lovely to be able to moisturise my whole face without feeling like I'm rubbing cream into a face of open wounds...

Hope you're all well and don't have to work too hard over the holidays...

OH PS - No one got back to me about the file upload thing, does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

That's great your skin is getting smoother and that they no longer hurt to touch 🙂 and about the file upload thing, that's strange, because I just uploaded new photos then and I noticed my global upload quota is like 9.77 or something :/

Yeah I emailed the moderators and some kind person got back to be and said they'd up our personal quota to 10MB 🙂

Must make my pics a bit smaller from now on so I can do a few pic updates! x x x

I'm glad your starting to feel some progress! The darkness should fade fairly quickly, especially if you stop getting more actives. The accutane seems to be helping my face even out a bit, if only because I am not breaking out anymore like I used to.
