Dude you're going to Vietnam? No way! Me too except I'm going there the end of April. As for your sunscreen question try Shiseido Ultimate Sun Protecting Lotion SPF 60 PA+++. I had to deal with the Southeast Asian sun last year in Indonesia and used this everyday to keep my very sensitive skin from frying. It's very lightweight, sinks in well, and doesn't affect how your foundation or powder looks. I find Neutrogena sunscreen to be too thick and separates my foundation or whatever it is I'm wearing.

Hey there 'Quiescence' Hah i have no clue what that means. Any way i want you to take a good long look at your DAY 1 acne and remember how it made you feel. Now look at your progress! Your skin looks great and your confidence should be through the roof! I am really happy for you, hope mine works out just as well!
Haha I just did that and you're SO RIGHT!! Thank you!!..... Oh and Quiescence means a period of quiet/calm... which is what I am experiencing now and have hoped for since day 1... 😉 x x x
Oh yes, it gets hotter than that. In the summer is gets over 100 degrees Farenheit (your 35 degrees is Celcius, I assume, so 95 degrees F). The SPF 25 will be fine, but you'll need to reapply every few hours. You would with any sunscreen anyway because you will sweat most of it off in that kind of heat. You could certainly try a higher SPF, but they usually have the chemical sunscreens to get that high and will most likely burn. If you can find one that's part chemical, part mineral, it may be alright. Laura Mercier makes one like that in her Flawless face line that's SPF40. I think MAC has a few primers that are part mineral, part chemical with a high SPF that you could look at as well. I almost completely forgot about Neutrogena! They make several high SPF sunscreens and should have something for sensitive skin. Try that first because it will be the cheapest.
Thank you so much for your help on this... There's so much out there it's a bit overwhelming and I'm terrified iof breaking put/burning my face to a crisp... Neutrogena sounds good... Do you think something like this
http://www.neutrogen...block+spf+55.do
Would be chemical as opposed to mineral? Is the only way to tell by looking at the ingredients list? Sorry if I sound dumb it's just that the way winter is in England has meant I've not had to think about this yet!! x x x
Yes, the label will list all of the active ingredients. If it is not titanium dioxide or zinc oxide, it's a chemical sunscreen. The one you linked is an all chemical one, so it might sting since your skin is sensitized from the accutane. Here's one: http://www.neutrogen...ortby=ourPicks.
I've never tried it, but it is listed as a sensitive skin sunscreen, has a high SPF, and it non-comedogenic. Sounds promising!
Thank you love... I just bought a 'simple' one to try out... it has titanium dioxide in the ingrediants list so you never know!! x x

I'm on Day 7 now, and last night i had a horrible headache. Maybe it wasnt accutane related? Eh idk i still feel it slightly, and its already 12 PM. What about any stomach pains, like very mild? Hah thanks!

No I havent had any unexplained stomach pains... maybe its best to consult your derm? x x
No, the Shiseido sunscreen is not a moisturizer but it does offer some relief from dryness. Asia is going to be so bloody hot and humid that you'll be sweating balls and want to wear as little stuff on your face as possible. You may find the cetaphil unnecessary unless your skin is still super dry.

Also my derm prescribed me some tretinoin (I think this is Retin-A) gel...0.01% to use topically when I finish... what is your experence of this.. should I use it? I defo dont think I want to be using that on my holidays right?!
Sorry guys more help needed!!! x x x
I have some tazorac to use post accutane. I haven't used it yet because my skin has been dry, but I'm thinking about starting it tonight. I'll let you know how I do with it. My derm said I could start it right away, but since my skin was still feeling sensitive I decided to wait. It's been almost 2 weeks, so I should be good now.
Comment on the Shiseido sunscreen: I bet you won't need a moisturizer under that in the humidity, but still moisturize at night. You'll be surprised how oily your skin can get in those conditions.
If I were you, I'd finish out all of the accutane you have been given, then stop. You don't have to end it at your minimum dose and if you take more, your results may be better. I took more than my min because I wanted to finish off all the pills I had.

I ended up taking 6000 mg, putting me at 130mg/kg. I'm 46kg. I didn't realize you would be so close to your max. Did you talk to your derm about when to stop? Does he/she want you to take that much or was that left completely up to you?
I tried the Tazorac last night and my skin had no trouble with it, but I did finish my course on the 1st.

Well the thing is she was going to stop me at my last appointment... but that wouldnt have got me to my minimum 120mg/kg... so I told her about the research minimum cumulative dose stuff...and so she went to her computer and gave me another load more pills... I have no more appointments booked with her now so yes It's pretty much up to me whether I take everything I have or stop before!
Undecided how much to take... wish I had a derm who knew more about this!!

DAY 126
Well I'm still going!
98% through to my minimum dose!!!!!
Havent had a spot for ages... Only get one every now and then really...I LOVE ACCUTANE.
Off to vietnam next Wednesday.. I got some Kids sensitive factor 50 suncream made by Simple... Ive tried it on my face a couple of times and seems to be ok!! We'll see!!
Hello from Vietnam everybody!!! Its been gorgeous here... started in ho chi minh... then up to Hoi An, then Halom Bay now in Hanoi! Busy busy!!
Wowee its been a while since I posted, Im pleased to say im still 100% clear... even my familly have a couple of spots out here from sweat etc but not me!! I decided to stop my course before coming here... I hope I made the right decision, was easier and I did reach my minimum 120 mg/kg but only just! I will just have to see :/
Hyperpigmentation is still fading and skin has reacted fine to the heat... no redness etc, although it has been cloudy most days which is good... al in all my skin feels amazingly "normal!"
One thing unrelated (I think) that im worried about is this lump behind my ear I found the day before coming here... I think its a lymph node thats inflamed, but I havent got an infection... and being the hypochondriac I am Ive been looking at forums and now Im really worried its like a lymphoma cancer or something.. Of course Im getting an appointment with my GP as soon as I land in the UK but.....
has anyone ever had anything like this?!!!
Hope you are all healthy and happy
Don't panic about the lump. Definitely get it checked when you get home to be safe, but it's probably your body fighting something you were exposed to during travel, coping with accutane, or something like that. Remember, you just started travel in a foreign country. There are lots of new things for your immune system to see as the enemy.
I occasionally have one random lymph node enlarge for seemingly no reason, but it goes away and usually without me getting sick. Your body is constantly protecting you from things you don't even know you've been exposed to.
I'll bet your skin will be just fine during your trip. You have all of that accutane built up in your system, so you should stay clear. Just remember to wear sunscreen so you don't get burned!
Have fun!
Somebody posted on their blog a few days ago about having a lump appear around the neck area and swelling along the jawline, think they were about as far along on the Accutane course as you. So there might be some kind of connection relating to the Accutane. My first thought there was it being a lymph node and, like Jesoli said, that can happen at random and go away just as easily as it appeared without being an indication of anything major. Don't worry yourself. If it sticks around or starts causing problems then you could get it checked out, but otherwise, don't get stressed about it. Enjoy your trip! Great to hear you're clear by the way. Well done!
I'm about a week behind you in my course and I have the same lump! I wouldn't stress - mine went away after about a week
congrats on finishing! I still have 3 weeks left - man I cant wait to be done!!
I have a lump behind my ear too.. I swear it's been there for aaages. The derm today though said it would go away, but it really feels permanent. I hope it goes away
Seriously? You guys have the same thing????
My lump is pretty hard... like at first I thought it was bone but realised it was a teeny bit softer than that, and definitely under the skin (as in my skin slides completely over it)... it feels like its attached to my skull... Pretty sure its a lymph node.... its higher than the join between my jaw and neck, and slightly further back than the crease behind my ear, basically just above my mastoid process...
Is this the same as yours?
x xx
Like on this diagram on this link its number 6ish on me... my retroauricular/mastoid lymph node perhaps? x x
