i have had backne for years. chronic unrelenting scarring backne. I've tried diet, meds, vinegar scrubs - nothing worked

however i also suffer from a bad back and collapsed hip all caused by a slight knee dislocation years ago that wasnt diagnosed properly. I finally got sick of my chronic pain and through a combination of pilates and yoga and damn hard work at stretching and relaxing muscle groups I managed to get my back straightened and my knee aligned and my pelvic girdle to stay even. The day I got myself straight i felt that the texture of the skin on my back and chest changed - it no longer felt rougher and thicker. Instead it was soft and smooth just like th skin all over the rest of my body. I also noticed that my skin in these areas was imemdiately more pinchable and elastic. And I havent had a single new pimple appear since that moment.

i dont know if it was poor posture affecting my glandular systems that were putting unnatural pressure on my organs or that my skin was unnaturally stretched over a warped and twisted torso that was causing breakouts

so guys if you suffer from chronic backne and you have a bad back/hip combo and have poor alignment/posture you might find that the two are very related. consider working on your alignment as a treatment for backne as well as getting that extra inch of height back and the dissapearance of the chronic back ache.

good luck to you all

Hi, I have had issues with deep, painful acne on my chest and back for years that left white scarring. I was googling a week ago and found this post. I immediately went to a little organic grocer on my street and picked up 4.9% rice vinagar. I rubbed a small amount on my acne before bed and the NEXT DAY I noticed that I didn't have any new zits.

I have been using it for a week and I don't have ANY new zits and the old red ones are slowly fading!!

hey there once again....just a small word of caution from personal exp to ppl who are planning to try ACV...

i have red marks from acne on my back shoulders and forearms...read this thread and i got myself a bottle of ACV (heinz) and started using it less than a week after reading this....it has been a little over 2 weeks now and 1. yep it seems to work....(will post more on results later).... 2. stinks really bad...and 3.hard to apply, as it is like water and it drips...making you feel sloppy...

anyway the point is...some acv that i apply on my shoulder and arm has dripped to the inside of my arm(which is clear and smooth) and i dint care much about it....but later i noticed i had small mild rashes ....but that too faded away like in a couple of days...so think before applying on sensitive skin...

and yeppp i dint dilute it...i use it directly...

Wow this is an old thread lol but I was just curious if applying the apple cider vinegar or whichever kind you guys use diluted half and half with water then waiting for it to dry THEN adding tea tree oil might be the best bet? Two times a day that is

That might be using too much at once. I think you should start with just the acv + water first 😀

Hey guys

Its been a year or so since I posted (and amazingly 6 years since my original post), as I've mentioned before the Vinegar and Tea-Tree oil pretty much cured my bacne, these days I probably only use it once every couple of months. Its pretty humbling to think that I've helped so many people.

As I said before, give it a try, it only cost a couple of dollars and you've got nothing to lose other than your spots. The reason I come on here every now and again is that I'm still angry at the Dermatologists and other doctors that prescribed dangerous pills and expensive topicals to fix a problem you can solve at your supermarket for under $10.

I've noticed a lot of people complicating the idea - to summarise what I do. I put a couple of drops of Tea-Tree oil on my hands and rub it over my back using it as a type of exfoliator and then once I've rubbed that in I pour some vinegar on my hands and rub it into my back and again rub it until its dry (my skin is very oily so those more sensitive skin might want to take it a bit easy with this and think about diluting it). I usually take a shower straight after I've rubbed the vinegar in so I don't smell like a salad smile.gif

Hope you guys have continued success with this technique.

All the best with your fight with acne.

M.

I am wondering if you think the tea tree oil or the vinegar is the biggest factor in this method or is it the combination of the two? Since you apply the tea tree oil first, then the vinegar, then take a shower, I can't help but suspect that the vinegar just washes away in the shower as it is just sitting on top of the the oil. Any thoughts? Has anyone tried reversing the order so that he vinegar absorbs into the skin?

Since my last post I've tried both ACV and tea tree oil. I don't like tea tree oil. I put ACV on my face after washing it, leave it on for 10-15 minutes and rinse it off with cold water.

My skin looks absolutely awesome. Never would have guessed. I use Bragg's Organic ACV.

Do you apply the ACV full strength or diluted? Have you ever used the clay and ACV to spot treat?

It must feel great to have found a skin care routine that gives you awesome skin! Congrats!

I use it full strength, leave it on anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes, and rinse it off with cool water. But on my back, chest, and shoulders I just leave it on full strength. I used to do that on my face but it's a little too harsh.

I have never used the mask to spot treat because I feel like it really helps my whole face (especially the blackheads.. whoa!) and I never make that small of a mixture. But that is definitely a possiblility! It helps with hyperpigmentation from what I can tell also.

It really is amazing that I can be at least somewhat happy with my skin. And I really hope that everyone on this site finds what works for them. It's rough having skin problems and can really only do harm to your self esteem. It's been about a decade since I've had clear skin and though it isn't perfect it's a start. Maybe one day all these scars and spots will be gone. :3 I'm looking forward to it.

hey there gingergirl22...

i do the exact reverse thing (before bed)...as in shower...acv...tto...but then...infact initially i used to just shower and then apply acv...then i got hold of some tto...used it for a while...dint find it to be effective and was hard to find it in stores and was quite expensive (not as expensive as the products i used to use earlier...but compared to ACV (heinz) )...

and it is pretty good...it is quite slow in my case...but nothing else worked so...continuing with this...

and this is for me bacne (pigmentation...not acne itself) ... i do this in the night...

were you talking about the morning...??? i personally dont do anything in the morning...just wash off acv from the previous night...

and sure you have noticed the smell of acv...i dont think anyone can use it in the morning... biggrin.png

i think the leaving over night thingy helps! smile.png

Just posting some tenantive results. As a starter my face skin is combination: oily forehead/nose and temples, non-oily everywhere else on my face.

I began about a week ago using Rice Vinegar (I think Kikkoman lol), which is bought diluted to 4.3% (either 4.2 or 4.3, can't remember), anyways the bottle is green labelled. I filled a separate pump bottle as I didn't have a spray bottle, and added enough tea tree oil so that after applying it smelt like both ingredients (I don't have an effective means to measure drops at this time, and my body handles tea tree oil quite well). Note: I used the vinegar alone undiluted for about 3 days with no adverse reactions, and then added the TTO.

I have been applying 10 minutes before a shower in the morning when I have time, and if I don't I apply after I get back from school around noon (because I don't want to smell like or think I smell like vinegar for class, and despite what others have said, it does leave some sort of weird unpleasant odor which you can only smell if you put your nose to your skin).

At night, I apply around 8 or 9pm lightly, then again heavily before bed. I use enough to leave my skin momentarily wet because if I don't the vinegar seems to make my skin sticky (again, sticky momentarily before it dries), leading me to believe it's not covering the area entirely. Anyways, I apply to my entire chest and abs area, shoulders, traps, and the entire back as well as back of the neck.

At night I also apply to my jaw line (I have bumps near my lymph nodes and beneath my ears) as well as my entire face.

I have recently got Desert Essence jojoba oil and tea tree oil, and have used that the past two days and it's a really cool moisturizer. I have begun applying that after my morning shower to ALL the areas just mentioned. You can go pretty light on it because it seems to last almost all day (I can't tell if the new 'oily' feel is due to sweat or natural production, but it seems to be consistent with the feeling that jojoba gives, which is unique). I think this is promising as a healthy moisturizer because I'm pretty sure the vinegar+TTO was drying my chest/back out.

RESULT (after 9 days): My shoulders have cleared up quite a bit; I don't seem to have any new breakouts, and the back of my neck which is plagued with scarring seems to feel less damaged. Hopefully it's lightening that area but I can't actually review it. My middle back, where I was starting to get small nodules, has stopped producing new ones, and the current ones have gone down in size. Some mini-bumps are still present on my lats, but less than before.

My face, when starting, was pretty much clear, albeit with many blackheads on the nose, and the occasional pimple here and there. My jaw/neckline below the ears and near the lymph nodes was what I was concerned about, and that has calmed down quite a bit.

Basically, I wasn't expecting miracle results, and I was expecting a massive flare up which to me indicates growing acne is being purged, but I didn't get that. I feel like continuing this regime will prevent/help control further breakouts moreso than what slopping on BP was doing, and it's far cheaper.

tldr; my results were promising, but not miraculous.

I'll post much shorter updates in the future, but I figured a review was needed that wasn't "MIRACLE CURE" or "HORRIBLE FAILURE" was needed.

Applying 100% ACV and then 100% Tea Tree Oil to my upper arms twice a day for the past two weeks is improving upper arm acne that I've had for years (it actually may be Keratosis Pilaris, but it doesn't have a sandpaper feel and doesn't look like the pictures I see online of that condition so I'm not really sure). I'll definitely stick with this to see if I can clear it completely.

Update: I guess it's been about 2.5 weeks?

The rice vinegar hasn't really seemed to do anything past my initial post, where I stated that it seemed to help prevent further breakouts on my back. The few spots that have always troubled me continue to do so (staying persistently red, but never head-forming and not cystic as they are small and semi-painful), and the 'cluster' (from the last post) underneath my right shoulderblade that bothered me enough to start the whole vinegar thing hasn't done much at all. It's staying in this weird permanent irritated red state; again non head forming and it's staying small (maybe the largest spot is getting smaller, but it started small anyways).

The other acne type on my back, which is closer to my sides and under my shoulderblade, is pinhead sized, non-red, non head-forming bumps that seriously never seem to go away. They don't really do anything other than make my back very noticeably unsmooth. I was curious, so I squeezed one and only solid white material came out, no 'black'head, no liquid or pus (like cysts produce), and it was really just a sizable clump.

My shoulders: My tattoo covering my left shoulder muscle is doing great. I got it back in April I think. It was forming extremely small whiteheads that wouldn't disappear on their own (i've read that's due to the epidermis being pushed down and causing a reaction). Those have stopped, whether on the tattoo's own accord or the vinegar, I don't know. The surrounding acne scars on my shoulder have lessened pretty dramatically. A couple of reoccurring spots continue to reoccur (the reddish bump kind, not whiteheads). My upper shoulderblade, too, still gets the reoccuring (I think they are always in the same spot) pimples, which just almost form a head, and whether I pop them or not (i've stopped doing that), it doesn't matter; they take weeks to heal. The right shoulder area is similar, but plagued by more non-active, slightly reddish 'bumps'.

My jaw/lymph node area seems to have improved. I have probably 3 or 4 red bumps that appeared recently, but that's better than the whole area being red and irritated looking for no reason. My face has improved, except for my temple and sideburn area, which has gotten worse. The forehead is doing the same as pre-vinegar (couple of minor zits during the week, nothing too devastating).

One annoying thing that's probably not related to the ongoing vinegar or the jojoba+TTO i've been using is a couple (plus one small forehead) cysts flared up at the same time two days ago with a vengeance. :/

Summary: Face: Preventative. Jawline: Seems to be effectively preventative. Shoulders: Meh. (Although helping the scarring.) Back: Meh, but maybe slightly preventative.

Again, sorry for the long post, but considering I don't get on here too often and from browsing myself more info it more comforting than less when you have questions.

tl;dr 2.5 week mark. Vinegar for me seems to be a mild preventative. I'll go for another week before adding something else for persistent-problem areas (probably BP).

I really would suggest anyone questioning it to just try it for a few weeks. From what this thread, and from what I have read, this method will do wonders if your skin pH is out of whack (be it from your showering habits, choice of soaps, food intake, or just general body chemistry). It's a cheap and simple thing to try, and if you do try it and it turns out pH WAS what was causing all the problems, then that is an amazing find!

I, however, am thinking that the reason I'm not getting amazing results is my skin's pH was probably close to what it "should" be. It has helped a bit, but not dramatically enough for me to throw all the BP and tea tree oil out.

Since my last update I began showering at night before applying vinegar+TTO. Before I would only shower in the mornings, and by the evening whenever I applied it before bed I couldn't really feel the tingling burn, probably due to natural oils and skin and such in the way.

So I've been showering before bed and in the mornings, applying after my night shower and before my morning shower, both times it feels tingling like it's working, and I have started getting better results. Now just the scarring/small cystic type acne remains on my right shoulder, the same stuff is barely present on my left shoulder, and the small cystic type is still left on my chest near my sternum. Almost all other acne has reduced so far that it's unnoticeable.

One last follow up.

I have essentially been using only a apple cider vinegar (if I didn't mention I switched midway due to the store not having rice vinegar and just to try it out), mixed with TTO, in no specific measurement other than "good enough", or perhaps "I can vaguely smell TTO after the vinegar has evaporated." I also shake it before putting it on.

My back, shoulders, and chest are almost completely clear. There are of course the few spots that are persistent, obviously due to being old scar/dormant cysts, but other than that it's all good. My face responds minimally to the whole thing, so I can't be sure it's effecting it positively (i'm still getting "here and there spots" and blemishes on my cheeks occasionally) but I will continue applying there anyways and look for other things to add.

I recommend trying vinegar for a full month before deciding.

Over and out.
