I am just coming to the end of my accutane course (on my last week of 10 months of treatment). I have had severe cystic acne for 10+ years on face chest and back and accutane has been the only thing to work. When I saw my derm at the 9 month mark I was still getting the odd spot which was really annoying, however just one month later my skin is completely clear so please don't dispair just yet The skin should also keep improving after stopping accutane as currently the drug is eliciting an inflammatory response in the skin (which will reduce as the drug leaves the system).

The other thing I noticed that I had to be careful of was making sure I showered soon after exercise as lingering too long in my gym clothes doesn't help the situation. Good luck with the rest of your treatment

Hello everyone. Ive been taking accutane for 9 months now, and im totally clear on my face, chest, back except for the back of my neck. Im still getting huge cysts 1 or 2 at the time. Its always the same 4 spots, where the cysts appearing. Anyone experienced this before? It is really annoying, and its killing my self confidence... Ive heard that when you end a cure, you Will clear up around 1 or 2 months later. Is that right? Anyone else who can help me getting rid of my back og neck acne? Its so frustrated to get clear around your face with accutane, but it seems like it doesnt work on the back of my neck.

I have this shit too. I did two rounds of accutane, my face has been clear, but the cysts on my neck came back both times. I'm pretty sure this neck acne thing is diet/hormone related, eat healthier, start a food journal and track your break outs too this will help you identify which foods trigger it. I stopped drinking/drugs too because it made my neck cysts flare up. cruciferous vegetables have some pretty powerful hormone regulating effects and really helped mellow out my skin (I'm male btw), but just don't go overboard with them or you'll hurt your thyroid (ask me how i know). Best of luck, I know how frustrating it is when accutane doesn't work
