Do you have a current skincare routine? This includes a cleanser, acne treatment, moisturizer, and sunscreen.

A good cleanser doesn't have to be something medicated with benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid. These are unneccesary ingredients for the most part since they get washed off before they can have an effect. Some good cleansers are Cerave (hydrating and foaming cleanser) and Cetaphil cleansers. You should use them at least once a day in the evening, and if you need to you can cleanse in the morning. Your cleanser should not make your face feel dry or tight, if it feels like your skin is about to fall off when you smile, you look for something for gentle and non stripping.

The most common acne treatments are salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide. Salicylic acid works by dissolving skin debris that clog pores and can lead to breakouts. Benzoyl Peroxide works by reducing the amount of acne causing bacteria on the skin. Both are pretty drying, so make sure you moisturize afterwards. BP can be done everyday once a day, and the salicylic acid should be done about once every other day once you work up to it, since daily use can lead to your skin becoming over-exfoliated. Acne.org has pretty good BP that is well formulated, and is sold in good size containers. Stridex pads in the red box are pretty good salicylic acid treatments too. I personally recommend BP as it has helped alot with my inflammatory acne. Stridex pads really only help with small bumps I had on my face.

Moisturizer is a VITAL step. You want to make sure you always mositurize your skin as the last step. Without it, your skin will become dehydrated from treatments that dry your skin out, which will lead to more breakouts and dull, tight feeling skin overall. You want to get a bland moisturizer that doesn't have benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid in it, since these will dry your skin out further. Find a bland moisturizer, such as Cerave. I like Cerave PM since it has nianicimide which helps with hyperpigementation, along with ceramides and hyaluronic acid. Look up some good moisturizers to treat your skin to.

You should research a little bit on skincare if you already haven't. Some good resources are here on Acne.org, and r/SkincareAddiction on reddit.

The biggest thing is to not let your acne get to you! I can't stress this enough. You acne is not you, you are not your acne. Your acne is mild, and is very treatable.

I hope you resolve your acne soon!

Hey, I am so sorry to hear about your acne. Please go to a dermatologist for a proper checkup of your acne. Take care of yourself, drink a lot of water, do work out, dont eat oily food, use clean towels and change your pillow covers once or twice a week. There's so much bacteria on them you really should to prevent new acne. So I tried these disposable pillows covers from this website [Edited link out] These ones are actually disposable so super easy! They also have product in them that improves the condition of your skin whilst you sleep. So along with medication proper care is also important. Take care.
