I am suffering from acne for the past few years. When I noticed that My acne is mainly due to dandruff I am starting to use the body shop anti dandruff ginger shampoo . It is effectiv . As far as my acne is concerned I am using tea tree face wash from the same brand .Al though it is mildly irritating it keeps my skin oil free for a long time . My acne and reddish blemishes has not subsided yet . I am not taking any medication and religiously trusting the body shop for my acne . What else should I do to combat my acne ? My skin is quite sensitive and oily . I have been using many products in the past . Nothing worked out . Should I use seaweed range from the body shop as it is effective for sensitive skin ? Or continue with this ritual . Please help me .
Hello, I would like to share my experience with you and also share some products that work for me and how I use them. I am a 35 year old black female with combination to oily skin and have suffered with moderate acne all of my life; black and white heads and some cystic acne around my chin and between my eye brows. I also have some discolouration. I have tried LOTS of otc products, and specialties like Proactive, Clinique, Laszlo, Clenziderm, Dermalogica, all with VERY little results. I started a prescription drug which worked but I was concerned about it's continual use and the side effects that may follow plus when I discontinued use, the acne returned. Then one day I stumbled upon an AHA (alpha hydroxy acid) from Alpha Skin Care sold online and at ULTA beauty. I used the 10% AHA in combination with my otc products and experienced very good results. My black and whiteheads and cysts were reduced a good bit. Then I began using Stidex, a BHA (beta hydroxy acid) pads in combination with the others and got even better results. Please take some time and GOOGLE AHA and BHA. AHAs are better for normal to dry skin and BHAs are better for normal to oily, breakout prone skin. So here's my routine: cleanse with Alpha Skin Care refreshing face wash (to balance skin's pH, GOOGLE this), swipe Stridex pad all over face and problem areas (neck, back), apply Alpha Skin Care essential renewal lotion 10% AHA glycolic acid (in the A.M.), allow Stridex pad to sit a few minutes on problem areas ONLY (in the P.M), mix a dab of 10% benzoyle peroxide and 2% salicylic acid and apply to ONLY the areas where I have breakouts, then moisturize with a mixture of St. Ives Timeless Skin Collagen Elastin Moisturizer and a few drops of extra virgin olive oil (because AHA makes my skin a little dry). The olive oil will not clog pores and contains a lot of good benefits. Also the Alpha Skin Care products I use are not expensive at all. Using these together has decreased my breakouts and their severity significantly, although they have not been eliminated altogether. Good luck!
