Too much Salicylic Acid?

Yo guys, first post here so please forgive me if I'm not posting in the right place or whatever.

Not going to bore you with my acne story because you're on this site to find solutions, not my life story.
Straight to the point I don't consider my acne severe enough to start the Acne.org regimen so I am looking at building my own. Just wondering if I choose to use a face wash with 2% Salicylic acid, would it still be beneficial to also use a leave on salicylic exfoliator/toner/spot treatment or is it best to just choose between a cleanser or another leave on product?
I am curious about this as I'm unsure if too much Salicylic acid will irritate my skin, thank you.

Salicylic acid hasn't agreed with me so far but I've read up a lot on it recently in my search for a solution.

A face wash with salicylic acid won't be on your face long enough to have any effect. It would be better to use a non-irritating cleanser without any salicylic acid and follow up with a leave on salicylic acid treatment. I haven't had any luck with Paula's Choice but it seems to be one people recommend often. There's also Diana Yvonne and Stridex that I've read recommendations for. You ideally need to start off using either a 1% solution and build up to a 2% or 5% or you could start with the 2% and use it less often and gradually build up to daily use. This is so your skin can get used to it and avoid excessive irritation. You might get an initial breakout either from the irritation of the product at first or existing acne surfacing due to the exfoliating.

Hope you have better luck with it than I have.
