Some BP products more effective than others?

Logically and scientifically, BP products should all work the same...however I am not convinced from my own experience that is the case.

  • Quinoderm 10- Worked wonders, sadly out of production until at least the end of 2016.
  • Panoxyl 10- Efficient, although quite harsh on the skin.
  • Acnecide 5- Jury still out...seemed to work ok at first but now seems to be less effective.

Perhaps some formulas allow for better absorption? What has your experience been?

Look for products with max benzoyl peroxide concentrations of 2.5%, since more concentrated product do not work better and can cause more irritation. You are right, technically all products should be similar in their effect on acne, but the real life is something else. Unfortunately what works for one person may not work for the other one, but really good start would be to try, guess what, Acne.org regimen, to which I have no any affiliation whatsoever other than being regular member just as you are without any compensation, or any extra privilege.

Let's keep fighting acne together!

Agreed with above poster! 2.5% BP is just as effective at killing p.acnes as much stronger formulas, and is much gentler on skin. Stronger is not always better! Remember to apply any topicals as gently as possible, with a feather-light touch. This will minimize any skin irritation caused by rubbing.
