In october I started using La Roche Possay's Effaclar Duo + series with SA on my forehead, where I got really oily skin. It worked very well and almost made my acne dissapear. I then started to break out on my chin, which isn't that oily, and therefore I used the Duo + there too, but it dried out my skin completely, even through I used a good moisturizer.
So I got some BP 2.5 % with some A-vitamin stuff in it, instead. In the main time I also started to break out on my jawline. I've now been using the BP for two months on my chin and jawline, and my acne have never been worse. Neither have my skin condition. My skin doesn't really get dry when I use the BP, but instead I'm now stuck with an orange, Donald Trump-look a like face. Should I stop using it? I've read that redness is common at the start, but still after two months?
Hey K_den, I think everyone has a slightly different reaction to products so hard to say whether your redness after 2 months is unusual. I think you should give anything you try at least 3 months before writing it off. Be sparing with the amount of product you apply and see if that helps.

The difference between 2 months and 3 months is negligible if his skin is already red from using BP. That product is, as I have said many times, too harsh for acne-prone skin (the irony). I have heard of it causing redness and irritation more than it actually treating acne. That's some scary stuff. I suggest K-den to stop using it immediately and seek professional help. In the meantime, he should wash his face with something gentle and calming like Cetaphil.
Hmm...can you get a 2.5% BP that doesn't contain the Vitamin A?? Sounds like maybe the product is a combo of BP and Retin-A?? Maybe just regular BP without any other active ingredients would work better for you?? Maybe the combo is too harsh??
2.5% BP is a gentle formula that most people's skin can adapt to and use successfully. Of course, there are exceptions like for everything.
