I joined this forum specifically to share something i discovered via internet research.
I am NOT a doctor, just a fellow acne sufferer.
Vitamin B-5 (pantothenic acid) along with L-carnitine seems to help with breakouts and cysts- alot.
24 hours after taking my first dose of these vitamins, my face calmed down, a developing cyst disappeared, little pimples were dried up and tiny, oil on my face reduced by 75%. A miracle to me, i'm so excited.
My dose: 500mg B-5 and 250mg of L-carnitine.
There was a study done in China of B-5's effects on acne. A doctor here in the states, working on the theory that B-5 breaks up oils, added the L-carnitine, which has a similar effect on oil. This doctor does mention that the dose of B-5 used in the China study was very high and recommends a very small 750mg dose. I choose to reduce it further down to 500mg.
Again, i'm NOT a doctor and i'm not endorsing anything. I'm just saying that 24 hours ago, i was a mess (on my face and in my head as a result). Today, it's all so much better and I feel compelled to pass this along.
