Has anyone experienced really weird side effects taking vitex (or agnus cactus chasteberry)???
I have been taking 400mg for about 3 weeks now to try to improve acne i get mostly on my chin and around my mouth. As soon as i started taking the vitex i felt more energetic which i thought was great but then i started to feel really jittery (like i'd had to much coffee) and my heart felt like it was beating really fast and heavy. The symptoms have been worst the last week. Feeling super thirsty all the time and having trouble getting to sleep which is unusual for me. Last night i woke up in the middle of the night feeling really ill and insanely thirsty. I had to drink a couple of glasses of water before i could get back to sleep.
Anyone experienced anything similar? I know i should propably just stop the vitex but i really wanted to give it a proper go to see if it could help me.

IIt has affected my periods a little by delaying them a little bit at first but the main thing is that it has totally improved my acne. I mean it has really help reduce my hormonal acne. I even stopped for a bit to see if it would come back and sure enough it came back. I wish I knew about this when I went off birth control because I got such bad acne that I went back on bc pills-I owas so embarrassed!

I have now been on the vitex a few months and those symptoms i was getting settled down after awhile. Glad to hear it helped you. I can't say i'm seeing alot of improvement in my acne. I have been taking it with estroblock and have noticed pms symptoms are better. Sometimes i think my skin is a little better, but then i get a fresh breakout so think i'm just being optimistic.
I tried that supplement it made me break out worst then I already was and I also felt really weird on it too. I took it again because tmi my period is so irregular and I though my hormoneswere unbalanced.I only took it one day and now my skin looks awful. I'm so disappointed because my skin was just starting to look good again. I would switch to using Dim- plus. I seriously credit this product for clearing up my skin a lot! It's amazing! Vitacost also has a dim supplement too and its less expensive and you get more for your money. It helps by eliminating the bad estrogen that builds up in your body and balances hormones but side not if you are on birth control do not take this product!!!!!!!
Yes the side effects lessened after a few weeks on their own. I have stopped taking vitex now. I couldnt really notice anyimprovement with my skin. It does seem to help some people, i suppose it depends on whether your progesterone is too low or not. I tookestroblock as well which i had already started a couple of months before the vitex.I thought thathelped my skin a little bitand with pms symptoms. I might consider trying a higher dose of estroblock but it is very expensive for not much improvement. Diet seems to be the only thing that really helps me.
