Hi guys,

I've browsed this site for a while and finally decided to sign up so I can ask about this. I've heard a lot of talk that Zinc Oxide is great for acne and as I was clearing out my medicine cabinet came across a tube of Germaloid cream.

Active Ingredients: Zinc Oxide Ph Eur 6.6% and Lidocaine Hydrochloride Ph Eur 0.7%

I'm being brave and giving it a go, I mean if it can shrink piles without any irritation a little spot shouldn't stand a chance, right? Plus the added anesthetic should help with sore/itchy spots.

I've put it on and there's no immediate irritation whatsoever, just a strangely pleasant tingle, what I'm wondering is....has anyone tried this before? What's your opinion? The doctors have had me on oral antibiotics (amoxytetracycline then lymecycline) for over a year now with no improvement and are refusing to refer me to a dermatologist. I need something else to work!

I've heard mixed reviews about this tbh. I considered it myself but I have heard that that sort of cream really isn't mentioned for your face as it thins the skin or something.

It's ridiculous they have not sent you to a derm, I'm in the same position tbh but I would never suggest long term antibiotic use. Have you tried any topicals from the doctor likr benzoyl peroxide or a topical antibiotic?
