Hi, I am 16 years old and have had acne problems for about a year now. It has gotten progressively worse and it happens all over my face. I wash my face once or twice a day. I've tried everything from the neutrogena face scrub, to proactiv, to even a bar of Irish Spring soap and nothing seems to work. I'm an athlete so I'm out a lot and I'm not sure what is causing this. The part that bothers me the most are my temples because it's so unattractive and very gross to look at. Can someone help me with what to do, thanks.
Do you wear any type of head gear like a helmet? Do you wear glasses? When I still had acne, I noticed that my prescription eyeglasses would rub against my temple where I had large cysts form. Any form of irritation (rubbing or in constant contact with something) will aggravate the skin and could be a factor to the location of your acne.
But because you're only a teen, it's hard to say what the real cause is. It could be hormonal or deeply rooted bacteria from sweating a lot due to physical activity.

Nope! I play soccer and don't wear headgear and I don't wear glasses either. Like now, it's not "pimply". It's just flat red splotches and dots and I'm so lost on what to do
Change your pillow case everyday! I know it sounds excessive and crazy, but change it as much as possible (and you can sleep on the flip side of the pillow before changing it). I can't imagine how much bacteria must be on our pillow cases from the oil in our skin or oil in our hair, or even hair product residue! Honestly, I noticed a decrease in my acne on my cheeks and on my temples when I started to change my pillow case more frequently.
Also, try not to go crazy on the products. If you're constantly stripping the natural oils from your face, it will dry your skin out, which leads to an increase making of sebum and oil which ultimately could lead to breakouts. (Also, I don't think Irish bar soap is very good, it's very drying I find!)
Best of luck!

Hmm... Have you looked into acne rosacea? It seems like that's what you have. I'm not a doctor so I would recommend getting it properly diagnosed. Good luck!
