Hi. I recently went to my dermatologist who prescribed tazorac, but forgot to ask about the hyperpigmentation left by some lesions and read up that azelaic acid can be effective in treating this.

I have a few questions:

1. Is it safe to use both at the same time?
2. If so, how should you go about using it -- would you do one in the morning, or both at night? (I currently use tazorac every other night.)
3. If used in the morning, can you apply sun screen after you apply the azelaic acid?
4. What are some good OTC options for azelaic acid, and where can I get them?

Thanks.

My daughter has been using Tazorac for 6 months now and all of her hyperpigmentation is gone.

Her dermatologist told her that if she was using any other topical (she used BP) to make sure she applied it at least 10 hrs away from the Tazorac or it could make it

(Tazorac) ineffective.

Going with that idea then, if you use the azelaic in the morning and the Tazorac at night it should be ok.

Just my opinion.

Good luck!
