This question has been on my mind for years and I can't find any quality information. How long does benzoyl peroxide remain active after it is applied to the skin?
I have found Dan's one size fits all "regimen", even when using his own line of products, ineffective for me. My skin doesn't get dry no matter how much BP I use. I also don't have issues with irritation he talks about. What I want to do is apply BP often enough that it's always active and killing acne bacteria... but I can't do that without understanding how long it's active in the skin. I'm guessing... an hour?
If you're not finding success with this regimen, you may do better without the one-size-fits-all treatment. Lumiplexion will customized your treatment and tweak it as necessary to get you where you need to be. I highly recommend her products. You can email Pamela, and she will let you know what you should start with.
Great question! I've often wondered how long BP stays active in the pores...if it kills acne bacteria for an hour, a few hours, or all day until the next dose. My guess is the longer it's in the pores, then the better it will work. This may be why medicated cleansers don't work as well for stubborn acne...only a limited amount of key ingredients get into the pores for a few seconds and the rest washes down the drain. But this may be enough for those with very mild, nonstubborn acne.
I don't think BP has to dry out skin to be effective. If you don't have this experience, then you're one of the lucky few...BP dried me out so bad despite my best efforts to start slow that I nearly quit! But I wouldn't take lack of dryness as an indication that it isn't working...unless it really isn't working! Your skin looks great to me so something must be working!

Well as I understand it, BP kills by creating oxygen. It can't be more than a few hours. Plus, it kills good bacteria too. Too bad there's not a probiotic way to replace the P.Acne bacteria with non-acne causing healthy bacteria.
Interesting you bring up good skin bacteria vs bad skin bacteria...I read a post tonight about a girl who treated a fungal skin problem...looks like a bad rash...with an anti-fungal shampoo (Nizoral) and it worked. But I guess the skin problem was caused by an imbalance in her good skin flora. Here's the post if you're interested:
I tried googling your question but could not find anything that would tell me how long BP remains active in the pores. I do know from reading a recent post that they recommend leaving BP on the skin for about 10-12 hours...
Reread your original post...if you're seriously not having any problems with dryness or irritation, maybe try doing using BP 3 times a day, see what happens... Everyone's skin is different and responds to treatment differently...
When googling I discovered a product called Eminence Clear Skin Probiotic Cleanser...contained tea tree oil, yogurt, and other ingredients...only mention because you mentioned a probiotic skin solution...but probably not what you're looking for...
