My son was on it for about a year and it didn't work , about 3 1/2 months ago he had the worst breakout to date, he stopped using the effaclar Duo and started using the new Proactive Plus it took over 3 months for it to work but right now he doesn't have any acne just tons of red marks something effaclar was never able to do in the year he was using it.
Everybodys skin is different so it might work for you give it 3 to 4 months and see what happens Good Luck!
I don't know whether you have started to use Effaclar already seeing as you first posted in May but if you haven't it's worth giving it a shot as I think it is the only thing that works for me and I have tried everything, even stuff from America.
I went to see a dermatologist and, as expected, she was hell bent on getting me on Roaccutane. It's tempting when you are really self-concious and in pain but I stuck to my guns and refused it. I was pretty annoyed as all I came away with was some samples of Effaclar duo, an Effaclar face wash and another moisturiser but when I started to use them I noticed a difference within a matter of weeks. I still get spots and they are ones that can take a while to go but overall I just look spotty rather than as though I'm suffering from severe acne, which is what the derm told me. It's expensive but it definitely works and is really good at banishing redness. I strongly suggest trying it.
Good luck!
There are two types of effaclar duo. The one sold in the states has BP, and the one sold everywhere else is SA. The European version is alright, although it certainly won't cure significant acne. I think it would be good for people who get a few small bumps and blackheads from time to time. I don't like the American one as it has a fairly comedogenic ingredient at the top of the ingredient list, which I found my skin did not like. It is also 5% BP and quite drying to use every day. It is indicated as a spot treatment. However, it gets good reviews and might be worth a try.
I started using the whole La Roche Posay Effaclar sytem 9 days ago and I have to say, my skin has never been this clear in my whole life. I also live in Florida and have had sever cystic acne from 8 years old (when I moved to Florida) until around 20 years old. I'm 21 now and still deal with a lot of breakouts, but not near as bad as the cysts I used to get. I broke out around my mouth and cheeks pretty bad the first 6 or 7 days and then it just completely cleared up, I only have one active pimple on my face right now on my nose (I ALWAYS have at LEAST 7+). Crossing my fingers that it stays this way, because if it does I get to start trying Derma rolling to take care of some of these scars
