Hello I am a 18 year old male in need of a moisturizer to go along with my Tretinoin and Benzoyl peroxide that makes my acne stay under control. I do not have oily skin, I have dry skin that is very acne prone with any oily products. About 2-3 years ago I had severe acne just on my cheeks, I was on Accutane for about 6-9 months (can't remember) and my acne was completely gone but have a couple of red marks/scars (I don't think they are scars) that we're left behind after my acne cleared up. I still get very, very small acne spots but to me they aren't a big deal compared to what I used to have. I recently went to my Dermatologist and she recommend me to go back on the tretinoin and benzoyl treatment just so my acne doesn't flare up again and would stay under control. I've always been on top of everything that needs to be done with my treatments so my acne doesn't come up. Recently, my skin has been very dry since the winter season is here and the dry conditions of where I live doesn't help my skin at al! I'm searching for a moisturizer that would give me the balance of healthy, glowing skin. My ideal moisturizer that can give my skin a smooth, healthy looking feel to it.
Now if there's anything that would reduce or maybe even completely fade the appearance of my red marks/scars that would go with the healthy looking skin moisturizer I would greatly appreciate it if you could share that with me!
The first thing you could try is to reduce the amount or frequency of your topical treatment (every other day instead of every day maybe?).
Both of those medications can be irrating on their own. Together they are almost always drying.
I don't know where you live, but I think the following are really good choices for moisturizers for acne prone skin:
Oil of Olay Regenerist Serum Fragrance Free (technically this is not a moisturizer, but it does moisturize my skin)
Cera Ve
Dormer 211 Lotion
Paula's Choice Skin Balancing Gel
Paula's Choice Moisture Boost
Try finding moisturizers that have light liquidy texture or silicone base. And you need a sunscreen with the prescription meds you're applying.
Don't take long hot showers and don't rub your face.
