Let me start of by saying I used to have incredibly oily skin, but now it is an interesting twist of combination skin. I used to be attracted to all the high end brands like La Prairie, La Mer, Sisley, Chanel, etc, but now I realize half these products are doing more bad for my face then good, so I said goodbye to my thousands of dollars of product. After much research and countless hours on acne.org and Paula's Choice, I have tried to grasp the "Cle de Peau," and lists of noncomedogenic, beneficial, and skin perfecting ingredients. I started replacing my tacky creams, cleansers, and tonics, with the latest and greatest gels, exfoliants, etc. My derm already prescribed me Tazorac (0.1%) cream at night and Epiduo in the morning along with 1% clindamycin gel. I know two retinoids is strongly not recommended because of redness, flaking, and irritation, but I wanted results FAST. My routine looks like this: Morning (My dermatologists 10% benzoyl peroxide wash, Paula's Choice Skin Balancing toner, Paula's Choice 2% BHA, Paula's Choice 9% BHA spot treatment, Paula's Choice 8% AHA, Paula's Choice ultra light super antioxidant concentrate serum + Paula's Choice Vitamin C, Epiduo + Zapzyt 10% benzoyl peroxide, 1% clindamycin gel, Cerve Lotion, Paula's Choice Super-Light Wrinkle Defense SPF 30, and then a mixture of Neosporin Cream and 1% hydrocortisone as a spot treatment), Midday (Neutrogena Extra Gentle Cleanser, 2% BHA, and 8% AHA), and Night (My dermatologists 10% benzoyl peroxide wash, Paula's Choice Skin Balancing toner, Paula's Choice 2% BHA, Paula's Choice 9% BHA spot treatment, Paula's Choice 8% AHA, Paula's Choice ultra light super antioxidant concentrate serum + Paula's Choice Vitamin C, Zapzyt 10% benzoyl peroxide, 1% clindamycin gel, Paula's Choice Skin Balancing moisture gel, Cerve Lotion, Tazorac, and then a mixture of Neosporin Cream and 1% hydrocortisone as a spot treatment). ALOT of products! I have been on this for about 3 month and I have no breakouts, almost all scars are faded, and my skin is glowing and the texture is so soft! Warning: this system is only recommend for extremely tough skin because I did have extremely flaky skin that turned my whole face flaky in an hour for the whole day, redness that burned my face, and some irritation for a month. However, this did subside and my face looks like I did a round of accutane, was on birth control, an antibiotic, got laser resurfacing, + a peal. Before this, I would get oily an hour after cleaning my face and I had some bad cystic acne that did not respond to once a day Epiduo. Now, only rarely does my nose gets oily and it usually takes strenuous activity and 6 hours for any noticeable shininess to occur in my T-zone. I am so happy and hope this helps or inspires anyone to pick up a few of these unbelievable products. Also, I use Paula's Skin Balancing Mask 2x a week.
