Sunscreen...

I live in the UK and I'm looking for a relatively cheap (around the 10-15 or less mark) sunscreen that I can use on my face. Obviously I want one that's non-comedogenic and doesn't feel greasy when applied.

Since I'm going to start using Dan's AHA+ I think I'll probably need SPF 30-50 because I have really sensitive skin already, so once I've exfoliated, I assume that it will be even more sensitive to the sun.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

Lewis

I recommend Neutrogena Clear Face SPF 30, I've been using it for about 2 months now and I love it! Doesn't have that strong of a smell for a sunscreen, didn't cause me any acne, didn't make my face greasy at all because there is this thing in it called helioplex that apparently makes skin dryer (not dry as in drying out my skin, but there is no visible grease when I put this on). This is one of the sunscreen Dan recommends as well, so you should try it as well!

Thanks! I've heard about this one too, but just wanted to be sure it was effective enough. :)

neutregena clear face and ultra sheer sunscreen doesn't have any physical barrier at all.(correct me if am wrong).

it's got silica which is not great more many(specially acne prone skin - not that everyone has reaction)

there's no mention of SLS or paraben which is good but the list of inactive ingredients is endless.

but the main worry remains lack of 'zinc oxide' or 'titanium dioxide'.

also,am not sure if helioplex has anything to do with the oiliness.

it basically provides stability to avobenzone in sunlight/heat.

if i have to say one thing i'd say 'pure & free baby' faces. from neutregena.

it's got only physical blocks.which is still better.the reviews are not bad either.

going by what dan's research says.

here, http://www.acne.org/spf.html

if u see the list of ingredients,u'll notice that the physical barriers provide more or less complete protection as compared to usual chemical blocks(avobenzone, homosalate, octisalate are the ones mostly used along with oxybenzone)

now,i dnt remember where but i've read somewhere that it may cause problems for many.

i'm yet to find a good one myself.

I was at my dermatologist recently and got a free sample of this sunscreen called COTZ. Felt like silk on my face and didn't leave that greasy, shiny look most sunscreens do. But it's basically just zinc or zinc and titanium and free of oils, chemical sunscreens, fragrances, preservatives, PABA, gluten, and phthalates. It's sold at a few stores in the US, not sure about there. This is their website if you want to check it out http://www.cotzskincare.com/allproducts.php

Yeah, everything you said is correct. I checked the ingredients of both and the 'Clear Face' does not contain any physical barriers - the 'Pure and Free' liquid does and has significantly less ingredients! So I'll go with that one.

Thanks :)

Could you not order it from Amazon UK or USA to India? :/

It sucks that the US literally has access to every product known to man in their local 'Walgreens' and us in other countries have to search far and wide across the internet just to find a sunscreen! -_-

the product cost plus the shipping charges are not practical for me.

u see, 1 $ = 56 to 58 rupees(our currency; the rate changes from time to time)

the worst part is neutregena is a famous brand here but that range of product is unavailable.only the usual chemical sunscreens like ultra sheer dry touch , clear face etc.

will u have to get it online too?

Yup...I don't know of any liquid sunscreens that you can buy here in the UK. They only have ones that are included in day creams that are only around SPF 15, which isn't enough for me.

I may have to go for the ultra sheer line because it's cheaper. I know it's a chemical sunscreen, but it's something I can afford right now.

I probably won't use the AHA until I get some form of sunscreen, my skin is already really sensitive to the sun. This is me > strongsad.gif

I had a similar issue with the same SPF needs. I bought Hawaiian Tropic 'sensitive face' sun cream in SPF 30. I've been using it for a couple of weeks now, and it hasn't aggravated my skin at all. It's oil-free and non-comedogenic, and feels a lot less sticky than some sun creams out there. It was 8 too, and I use it on my neck as well as my face because I don't really enjoy applying thick sun cream around my neck area either.

Lewis,i'm constanly checking out more products and i've shortlisted a few.

one among them happens to be paraben-free,fragnance-free,oxybenzone-free,no harsh chemicals.

the range is suppose to be organic and physical block only.

also quite cheap(compared to other products in my country).

i'll take some more time and let u know.
