After about 4 days of using it I got two HUGE painful pimples on my hotstop (side of nose) and I have read that there was a purging stage with this soap.

Also it kind of dries out my skin but I just order some raw shea butter and I've heard that helps alot!

Hi kaylamint,

I have tried African black soap before, thinking that it would help with my oily skin. Unfortunately, it didn't make any difference for me. I didn't purge but my acne didn't reduce either. So I've moved on to something else now and it works for me. I know how painful the zits on the sides of nose can be but remember not to pick on them.

Take care and hope those zits will heal soon.

From memory I didnt notice any kind of initial breakout but I was using BP at the same time as using the ABS. All it really does is remove oil and dirt from your skin so it shouldnt really have any kind of purging effect. Maybe you would have gotten those two big spots regardless of using the ABS.Be careful with the Shea Butter, it works great for some people but for others it can break them out pretty badly. I'd test it on your forehead or something first for a week or two :)

i use dudu osun black soap and its pretty good. i never got pimples and it actually works good enough to remove some discoloration. its pretty harsh and id only recommend washing once a day with it.
