Hi All,

i was using Oxy BP 10% cream for 5 days and it dried my skin like hell, even i used Organic Jojoba Oil it created new breakouts, even after applying Cetaphil Moisturizing lotion it cant help the dryness much, even make foundation cant conceal the reptile skin on my face :'( my skin is not severe with acne but got breakouts all teh time, just so annoys me...hope someone can help.....

Q1 : can i switch to BP 2.5% will it works on my skin since i started 10 % ?

Q2 : does the organic Jojoba Oil caused me break out?

Q3: is there any alternative moisturizing products OTC available that wont sting my skin after applying BP?

Q4: should i just stop the BP then rest for a while ans switch to Retin -A instead or i can use it both (BP & Retin-A) at the same period, lets say alternative days for each product?

Yes you can switch the the 2.5 percent and it should still be effective but since your skin is so dry I would put no topicals on, except for a good moisturizer, for at least 1-2 days to let your skin go back to normal. You can use the BP on during the daytime and if it is still drying to you then you can use on alternate days...and remember to use a good moisturizer after the BP dries on your skin. Retin-a can be used at night, but never put them on at the same time because BP deactivates the retin-a. A good moisturizer that usually wont sting is Cetaphil, Eucerin, or Cerave. I personally use Cetaphil and works great, and heard that the other two are good as well.

hi asburypark,

I'am actually using Cetaphil moisturizer after applying the BP 10 % but it stings but after i applied 2.5 % the other day it didn't sting too much, was wondering if should try Aloe Vera Gel base moisturizer to clam the skin down since it feels HOT when it stinging.

regarding the Jojoba Oil does it really caused breakdown to people like me? or maybe i used it wrongly?

will the Retin-A cause allergic reaction when the skin peeled after applying the BP? I'am still peeling as of this stage..

Thanks so much for your feedback :)

oh and i also want to know if anyone here use BP 2.5 % and Retin A in the same week, how would you use it? would you mind to let me know how would you schedule the usage of BP and Retin -A in the same week ?

Yeah the stinging is a common occurrence when using a moisturizer with BP. Im not sure why, but it happens to me and it happens to a lot of people. You are more than welcome to experiment with other moisturizers to see which one works best for you. Usually most people who use BP and Retin-A, use BP in the day time and Retin-A at night. If there is an increase in irritation, some people will alternate every other day of one product to allow the skin to adjust. Retin-A should not cause any allergic reaction unless you are allergic to it. If you are still peeling and it is uncomfortable/irritating for you, you can use retin-A every other night or every two nights to allow your skin to adjust and then gradually increase to every night. Also remember to use a "pea" size amount with retin-a, this will lessen the irritation. I do not use jojoba oil, so I have no personal advice concerning it, but I hear most people really like it and it does not cause them to breakout. Good luck with everything :)

Well the mild breakouts could be a result of resting your skin for a couple days, the cream based moisturizer, or a normal mild breakout that would have happened anyway...its difficult to know for sure. But acne prevention is a long term game and the BP and retin-a may bring a purge of acne in the beginning because it is cleaning deep inside the skin and bringing everything to the surface; and then after a couple months your skin will look noticeably better with fewer breakouts.
