I think it's because your immune system is working in "overtime" while you sleep. This causes pimples to "grow" with pus...
Thats probably the right answer. A lot of things happen in the body when you sleep and people often recommend plenty of sleep to help keep skin clear. I guess when you already have a pimple though, sleep speeds up the healing process and a part of that healing process is sometimes, the formation of a whitehead.
Dirt on yer pillow case wouldn't cause a new pimple to form overnight. (They usually take a lil longer than several hours) Well, i guess if you have dirty pillow cases, it can contribute to it down the road... but a pimple doesnt form and appear the next morning from one night.
Kevin22. Actually Kevin, I have went to sleep and woke up with a huge Whitehead that was not even partially visible before bed. This happened especially when I took amphetamine medication (adderal). Over the course of six hours a deep wide white head would pop out of nowhere. It was the kind that prickingwith the needle and very LIGHTpressure would make it all come out.
Hmm yea I think it's because dust and bacteria build up on your pillowcases. And some people sweat throughout the night too.
Also your skin cells regenerate overnight, so pimples form (and hopefully disappear quickly too when you're sleeping properly).
If you go to sleep with stress/ don't get adequate rest, this can cause inflammation and new bumps to appear by the morning
