Missing/blank posts

I've read through a lot of threads on this forum over the past few months, a lot of which have now been archived - but I have quite often found that posts from some members either appear blank, just quote another member's post or is just a single full stop or something like that.

I was thinking that one explanation might be people going back and editing out their posts, but there is no 'last edited by memberX' message. So, either that's because the forum didn't display messages like that back then to notify others that posts had been modfied or it's not the answer.

The reason it bugs me/makes me wonder what's going on is because someone may ask a question that I'm interested in seeing a response on, and seeing that a member has posted a response - only then to find that I can't actually see what they wrote.

Hopefully you can understand what I am referring to. Perhaps I can post a couple of links as an example if need be. Incidentally, this generally is a problem for some of the older threads on the forum. Can't say I've encountered it on newer ones.

Many thanks.

It doesn't really make sense.

Forum's get upgraded from one version to another all the time - but it shouldn't lead to any loss of posts - after all - that's the whole point of a forum.

I could understand it for things like attachments that people have uploaded becoming unavailable over a period of time - but not plain text.

It is almost as if someone has been through a bunch of old threads and removed any posts that they don't like.CONSPIRACY!

Honestly, I'd love to know the reason for this. I find it very odd.

i know some of the posts that disappeared were small pointless posts like "thanks a lot" so i doubt there was someone deleting them. pretty sure it was a tech problem since every quoted post vanished. dont really know why only some would be recovered. you could try messaging Dan to see if there is anything else that could be done to fix it.
this problem has come up before and ive already complained about it. maybe if enough people complain about it.

Cheers, didn't realise there had already been a thread on the matter otherwise I would have replied to that one in the first place.

Seems as though the problem might be fixable by the admins on a thread-by-thread basis rather than a "one click fixes all" solution.

Maybe I'll flag up the thread I am trying to view posts in and if it can be fixed perhaps other folk can mention the threads they'd like to be resolved as well.

But yes, it definitely seems to affect replies with quotes in rather than standalone posts.

Hi Paul,

Thanks for posting bugs/issues about this forum. I really appreciate.

Can you please provide me with sample topic links with above issues? I'd love to fix them as quickly as possible.

Regards,
