Hi, i've done a search on this forum about enlarged pores after BP-use, and i know responses say BP isnt the cause because pore sizes are determined genetically, but so far nobody has shared if they've had similar experiences AND what they did after that.
my question is,
1. Is it normal to have pores that seem enlarged while under regimen (for about 7 weeks already)? ..Is it to be expected, just like purging? Part of the process? or does this mean my skin is not suited?
2. is it reversible? anyone has had experiences?
I did not have such pores before starting the Benzoyl Peroxide 2.5% though i had the occasional cystic acne on my cheek that's why i felt the area was acne-prone and used BP preventively, to kill P. acnes that may lurk.
I use BP on my nose, cheeks, and chin. Strangely only my cheeks suffer a change in pore size. and it is only areas where i put BP on too, as you can see in the pics i attached..the BP and non-BP are distinguished by redness (which i know is normal so no fret,) and pore size (unexpected).
My pores are now huge, they make the skin seem inelastic and almost soggy.. like, lifeless and not taut. Like bread that's been soaked overnight in soup. spongey and holey. aging skin...?
Am hoping for some insights, thanks!
additional info:
1. i am on 7th week of regiment, started 13 oct.
2. I have cystic acne on my chin most.
Enlarged pores are not caused by the Regimen or the products. Many people have this issue, myself included. It's often caused by oily skin and pores that repeatedly fill up with oil, whiteheads/blackheads, etc. Over time this stretches out the pores, makes them more visible. Your pores look better than mine, if that helps. Actually your skin looks in good shape overall and looks like it's responding well to the BP treatment.
Don't know if you've asked your derm about rosacea. Could just be the pic and the BP treatment does make the skin look redder for awhile. But just the way the redness is concentrated on your cheeks and chin, just reminds me of rosacea. Not a diagnosis! You'd have to ask a derm. Like I said, could just be the picture. Acne-wise your skin looks pretty clear and complexion smooth. Looking good!

Thanks for the feedback! I feel very encouraged because of you^^
As an update, i'd like to say that its "reversible" - the pores will look a little smaller once the skin isnt as swollen and red due to the BP.
I noticed this because i skipped one application to let the swelling reduce, and pores just arent as noticeable on nude skin colour as if compared to red skin.
i'll probably have to deal with the consequences of skipping an application in a few days' time hahaha, but oh well, i still have a whole tub of BP to remedy that!
