That is basically all you need. AHA and jojoba oil are just good additions but not necessary. I have done the regimen for more than 3 years now and have kept my skin clear.
On 9/11/2016 at 5:02 PM, Control Panel said:That doesn't help with acne. You need to medicate your skin. Use 2.5% BP.
Options with 2.5% BP:
- Acne.org Treatment (about $2.50 / oz. if you get the tube or 16-oz. bottle)
- CVS Acne Treatment Vanishing Formula (generic version of On-the-Spot) ($5.72 / oz.)
- Neutrogena On-the-Spot Acne Treatment ($8.39 / oz.)
do they sell 2.5% in stores such as walmart? (otc) and does it matter what moisturizer? the moisturizer i use has sailicylic acid in it
i also have 10% BP at the moment. too strong?
10% BP is very strong and may cause unnecessary irritation which will only make acne worse. 2.5% is the optimal formula...much gentler on breakout-prone skin and kicks just as much p.acnes butt as 10%. Don't be fooled...more isn't always better!
Neutrogena On-The-Spot is sold in most drugstores as well as places like Walmart and Target, where you can probably find a better price.
You're better off with a plain noncomedogenic moisturizer. Medicated moisturizer over the top of BP may cause unwanted irritation and breakouts. Again, more isn't always better!
Once you're clear you can experiment with trying other formulas or adding more steps. The only exception to this is the Acne.Org jojoba oil. You can start using this from day one. Acne.Org AHA+ is a step you can add once you're 4 weeks or more into treatment, and your skin has fully adjusted to BP. The Regimen works best with Acne.Org products. Once you're clear you can play around with the products and steps to tailor your Regimen to your own specific skin needs. Plus it's the best way to see which products/steps aren't working.
Hope this is helpful!
