I did the regimen about 7 years ago. It never got me completely clear (after using it a year), so when I discovered it was the cause of my bleached towels, pillowcases, hair, and shirts, I gave it up.
I am now attempting the Regimen again. I have nice clothes for work and I'm not in a financial position to replace them. I'm making myself crazy trying to avoid bleaching!
Every time I touch my face, I run to the bathroom to wash and dry my hands. My hands are so dried out it hurts (even more than my face!). When my jacket brushes my face when I'm moving around, I freak out, convinced it's ruined. I had a panic attack after crying yesterday because I was afraid the tears had activated the benzoyl peroxide and splashed down onto my shirt. I shower twice a day because I'm afraid to wash my face in the sink - won't the water activate the bp and get on my clothes? I haven't done laundry since I started the regimen, because I know that if my clothes have been compromised, the water 'completes the bleaching process' and I'm afraid to find out if they're ruined. Every time I wear a shirt, I am convinced it will be the last time.
So... am I being completely crazy, or intelligently cautious?
What lengths do you have to go to to avoid the bleaching effect?
It's only gotten on my towels.
I just make sure not to mix towels with clothes when washing. That's all.
And, of course, have my shirt on when putting the benzoyl peroxide on so that it doesn't get on it. It seems pretty simple to me.
I think you're overreacting and going crazy, to answer your question.
I don't think you're crazy. I have several ruined dresses, a set of sheets, and a couple of shirts. Note, I only apply the BP to my face. I can imagine everything I own would be ruined if I added body applications. Even being careful, applying after dressing, etc. it still happens that your collar touches your cheek or something from time to time. And I swear the product, especially when applied liberally, can creep down your neck. I'm definitely concerned about ruining other people's clothing when I hug them, etc. If you hold little kids and they touch or brush your face, then touch other thing, forget it. This is by far the only significant downside to these products.
