I've been using benzoyl peroxide in the regimen for a long time, but my skin never adapted as well as it said it would, even the smallest doses would cause irritation. Because I thought it would subside for me too, I kept at it, increasing the amount very slightly every day. However it turned very red twice (looked like I was sunburnt) and it never recovered fully. It has been half a year now and the spots where I put the peroxide remain red as if I still used it once a day. I did try the following: Cavemen regimen and moisturise with hyaluronic acid. Both didnt work, what can I do that shows results? I am starting to lose hope. Also it itches a bit sometimes but doesn't heal.
It sounds like your skin is very sensitive. Are you still on the regimen? I was unsure from your post.
If your acne is clear you can try to reduce the amount of bp you are using. Try to find the smallest amount that will keep your acne under control while minimizing redness.
Have you tried adding any extra jojoba oil to your routine? In my experience jojoba oil is very soothing to the skin and can calm it.
If nothing helps the redness and it is bothering you, you may need to decide if you can stick with this or not. When in doubt, please check with your doctor or dermatologist.
Yes I have been off the regimen for some months now and it still hasn't fully healed. When I started out my skin couldn't even handle the tiniest amount very well, it might have been an allergy? I didn't get allergic symptoms besides strong redness though.
I stopped not because of the redness at first, but because the skin constantly felt very "tingly". I assumed it would go away after a week or so, but it sticks around still.
Is there any solution to this?
