Skin On Cheeks Dry And Stiff, Dead Layer...

Hello Im just starting my 4th week of the regimen. It has worked wonderfully in getting rid of my acne and right now my skin just has a few spots of PIH. What should I do about this thick layer of dead dry skin on my cheeks? It's so stiff to the touch. I haven't worn makeup at all since I started this regimen and its a huge step because I usuallg wear full foundation. I stopped caring for the most part about how I look and if people see my face with acne because I think to myself that I'll be clearing up so it won't matter if they see my Face like this now.

I know that you have to wait for your skin to get used to the BP before the dryness goes away, but how long does that typically take? I know everyone's skin is different but I just wanted a ballpArk idea so I could count down and wait for the light at the end of the tunnel. I'm afraid of this dryness going on for months for some people I don't think I can handle having this dry unbearable skin for over two months.

Hey Meg...First, I highly applaud your decision to forgo the makeup while you're treating your skin. For many female Regimen users, makeup is beyond necessary. Glad you feel comfortable going without it for awhile...the fewer unnecessary products on your skin, the better and faster your results.

As to the problem at hand...I know exactly what you're talking about. Try mixing 5-6 drops of jojoba oil in with your moisturizer for extra hydration. Or even better since you're also at the 4-week mark: Try mixing one part AHA+, one part moisturizer, and 5-6 drops of jojoba oil and applying. The AHA+ is a great chemical exfoliator and will slough off those layers of dead skin. Your skin may become a bit flakey for awhile but that's just the AHA+ doing its work of sloughing off the dead skin. The jojoba oil helps keep your skin more or less in balance during this process. My son had the exact same problem and now that layer of dry skin is gone and he no longer gets as flaky as he did. We apply this mixture every other night. Anyway, something to try!

Good luck with whatever you decide! :)

Thank you so much I will try this. I tried the AHA last week but my skin burned so badly and I ended up getting some more breakouts. I know AHA purges some skin but I figured with all of the BP I was slathering on, I wouldn't have any more purging. I was afraid to touch AHA again for a few weeks. I already do mix the jojoba oil but I think I put too much because it somehow stings my eyes, maybe the oil slicks down and drags the BP?

Yeah the 10% formula is pretty strong and better suited to tougher skin like the back and shoulders so ideal for treating bacne. We never use AHA+ by itself if using on the face, we always mix with the other two products and it's much gentler this way and only minimal stinging which subsides very quickly. I'm actually using straight AHA+ to treat keratosis on my legs and boy does it sting! But after only a couple of applications the skin on my legs is already smoother and doesn't have that chicken skin look to it. I'm doing this once a week but will stop once spring comes. Don't want to risk cooking my legs this summer! The AHA+ does increase sun sensitivity.

Thanks a lot for all of your information. When you mix with the lotion and jojoba, how many pumps do you usually use?

I mix one pump of moisturizer, one pump of AHA+, and 5-6 drops of jojoba oil together. A little loose and oily but it absorbs well and doesn't leave you feeling greasy. If this is still too strong, then try one and a half pumps of moisturizer and a half pump of AHA+ (plus 5-6 drops jojoba)until your face gets used to it. That's actually how we started but didn't take long before we were using half and half.

I really think these 3 products work better together than separately IMO. Give it a try! :)
