Hello everyone. As the title says, I'm interested in The Regimen but I'm scared to take the leap. I'm a long time Proactiv user and I'm looking for a new method of taming my acne. Coming from Proactiv, I know BP works well on my skin, but Proactiv seems to be losing its effect or just flat out not helping breakouts like it used to. I read a lot of good reviews about acne.org's products and looked into The Regimen, and I'm really eager to try it. My only problems in taking this step are:
1.) I'd buy the entire Regimen - the whole $80 deal - and that's a large amount of money for me to spend on a product I'm not even sure will work.
2.) every time I stray from Proactiv my skin seems to get even worse than it already is
3.) I see a fair amount of negative reviews (not just on here - I've checked a few other websites) and while I know The Regimen may not suit every skin type, and every product will have negative reviews, I still take them all into account before buying
4.) I only have mild acne breakouts with hormonal cystic flare ups around my chin, mouth and jaw, and I'm not sure how good The Regimen is for hormonal acne
So anyways, I'd like to hear some success stories, and maybe even some horror stories from those of you who have used The Regimen. I really want to try this product. I do! I just need that little push. Trying new products is always scary for me, because I've gone through so much trial and so much more error than success.
If it isn't too much to ask, it'd be cool if you answered a few of these questions for me, too (to those of you who have used / who are using The Regimen);
What is your skin type?
How long have you been using The Regimen?
When did you first start seeing results?
What is your favorite step of The Regimen, or what part do you think clears you up the most?
Do you use any other products in conjunction with The Regimen, and if so, what?
Do you have any negative effects from The Regimen?
Thanks in advance!
TL;DR : I want to try The Regimen but I need convincing.
The Success Stories are all personal and voluntarily submitted if you want to look through them. http://www.acne.org/success.php
Hi! I understand. I was really skeptical when starting too because I never had anything really work for me. I can't guarantee it will work for you, but I can give you my experience!
What is your skin type? I would say combination? If that's what you meant. I tend to get dry skin when using products but it's also oily at the same time. It's weird. :S
How long have you been using The Regimen? In 4 days I will have been in the Regimen for exactly 4 months!
When did you first start seeing results? My face started clearing in segments. After about 4 weeks I noticed my left cheek was clearing up, then by 7-8 weeks, I realized my right cheek and forehead were staying consistantly clear, and by 10 weeks my whole face was staying clear from new acne. So I guess I didn't start to notice anything until about a month in, and then I had to wait until the 10th week for my whole face.
What is your favorite step of The Regimen, or what part do you think clears you up the most? The Benzoyl Peroxide does the most clearing. That's the step that actually attacks the acne.
Do you use any other products in conjunction with The Regimen, and if so, what? The only other thing I use is AHA+ which you can order from this site along with Cetaphil moisturizing lotion (instead of the recommended lotion). It's recommended to not use the AHA until at least 2 months into the Regimen though. Which I mix every morning with my lotion.
Do you have any negative effects from The Regimen? Not currently, but I did suffer from a lot of red, itchy, peeling skin in the beginning which was SO annoying. Plus I had issues putting makeup on over my face for about 2 months because of the dry skin. That was just me personally though. I realized my problem was using Benzoyl Peroxide twice a day as it says in the instructions. My face just couldn't handle it. So after I achieved clear skin at 10 weeks, I switched to using it only at night (with washing my face and using lotion in the morning) and my skin is fine now. I just have sensitive skin, haha. Other than that, I have had some issues with the Benzoyl Peroxide bleaching my pillow and a few marks on blankets. But there isn't much you can do about that. My shirts have been fine though!
I just wanted to add that the beginning will probably be tough, but try to stick it through if you decide to use the Regimen. I wanted to quit several times because of the dryness of my skin, but I'm sooo happy I didn't. It was all worth it. My skin is clear for the first time since before puberty, and I'm almost 21 years old. If you do decide to use it I wish you tons of luck! And hopefully this helped some with your decision!
