Regimen success stories

I made this part of the site to share the many letters from people who have had great success with the Regimen over the years.

Some people have asked if I ever get letters from people who were unsuccessful. The answer is yes, albeit infrequently, but I find that they are usually not following the Regimen precisely. Once we get them on the Regimen, they will usually clear up nicely.

“Hi Dan,

It's taken me a while to write because I couldn't really believe that my skin, after over ten years of frustration and insecurity about my face, had finally cleared up. My acne was/is the deep, painful cystic kind -- the kind that can make you feel like you are nothing but a face covered in sore spots. I was skeptical that tons of BP would do the trick, since I believed my acne was diet/hormone related. Whatever the cause, though, your suggestions have helped me clear up, and about 6 months later, I'm completely acne free, except for a stray one here or there (but even those are not quite as grisly as they might have been otherwise).

I'm thrilled and relieved, to say the least. I can't believe I've found the answer to what feels like a lifelong battle. I really appreciate your recommendations and website.

Here's my regimen, for anyone interested:

Cetaphil cleanser (the unscented kind) -- I later switched to your cleanser and found it worked just fine too.

Cetaphil moisturizer (unscented)

A few drops of Jojoba oil mixed in with the moisturizer, on my drier days, and especially in the evenings

Your Benzoyl Peroxide -- lots, as recommended. I've scaled the quantity (but never the frequency) back some since my skin's cleared up and that seems to be enough to maintain my clear skin.

I also avoid all products containing fragrance, and switched my makeup to Bare Minerals, which I think helped too. I apply the moisturizer before the BP, but otherwise I pretty much keep to the regimen you've outlined.

I'll also note that I drink tons of water, and eat a vegetarian diet with as much raw fruits and veggies as I can.

I really would like to thank you for all the effort you've put into this website and the production of the amazing BP treatment!! I am 22 and have had mild but persistent acne since I was 13. That's 9 years of bad skin - not fun! Prior to using the regimen, I had found products which gave me false hope but invariably they either stopped working after a while or made me break out even more! As a result I was always buying new products and over the years had spent a fortune on things that did *not* work. I must admit I was at first sceptical when I stumbled across Acne.org and your regimen. However given the price of the products and after reading all the information available on the website, I reckoned it wouldn't hurt to give it a try. I started the regimen in January, 2009 using your BP and over-the-counter cleanser and moisturiser. The results were almost immediate. After about 2 weeks I KNEW it was working and not just a fluke!!! It's now been 4 months and my skin is looking great! I've posted pictures on the forum (with the alias mackoo0524... you have personally commented on them and I'd be more than happy for you to use them) as well to encourage people who are thinking of going on the regimen. I can't even begin to describe how much more confident having clear skin makes me feel... I can now go places without having to pile on a ton of foundation! Everyone close to me has noticed a difference and asked me what I've been doing differently. My sister who's always had perfect skin started breaking out recently and I got her to try the BP and so far it's working really well for her too! I really would recommend this to everyone. “I've had acne since I hit puberty and I had an early puberty. Yeah I hit it hard. I had really bad acne and I just hated it. My mother told me it was a phase and I'd get over it. I was so self conscious that I just hated getting my pictures taken and everything. My mom would also make me Chinese remedy to help my acne (didn't work too well), took me to the doctors (the drugs didn't work), many over the counter acne cleanser and what not (went through a lot), I even ordered Proactiv and I thought "Hey, for all skin...maybe it'll work" Just made my skin more irritated and didn't work. I just gave up and somehow I came across this site and said "Well...might as well give it one last try."

I'm a soon to be 19 year old, first year college student and I started January 7th, and so this is my 4th week into it and my skin is CLEAR! For the first time, I took a picture of myself, took it into photoshop, fixed the colour of the picture (since my camera isn't the greatest) and for the FIRST TIME I didn't have to air brush my skin. It looks GREAT! Other than the few scars I already have (which I don't mind) My skin is CLEAR. You MAY get the occasional pimple but they disappear in a flash. The regimen really works and I can say nothing more but THANK YOU DAN! This really boost my confidence and I just feel great with clear skin. ”

“Dan your site is wonderful!!! Im so glad I was on the internet that day and found it. Ok I thought there was no hope that I wouldnt have nice skin again. I always had 1 or 2 pimples to deal with but after awhile, I really started to breakout. I dealt with it for a few years. Just yesterday I went buy a store and this person said hi to me and that he remembered that the last time he saw me, I had the chicken pox. I said no it wasnt that. It was my awful acne. He said oh ok but I was glad because it shows my skin was clearing up. and last year, I remember going to a Mc Donalds and the lady at the register mumbled to the other woman "Aww poor girl. She looks like she has a really horrible skin problem. Look at her face!" She probably thought I didnt hear her. I felt bad :( I tried covering up with a lot of makeup, but that day I didn't put any at all. I tried so many products. I realized that if I just follow these simple steps that Dan explained, I was really gonna see a change. I wash my face with a simple cleanser that's not harsh (Neutrogena Fragrance-Free face bar) I use a 2.5% benzoyl peroxide. And a moisturizer that Dan recommended as well (Oil of Olay for sensitive skin). I realized that I'm not the only one that deals with acne. There are many people that go through this. I saw many commercials and different advertisements, that just seem so fake. With this site I read about many people and there acne problems and solutions. I just wanted to thank you for this website, your amazing generosity to not only share your finding, but also make it so easy for everybody to do the same!!

I never had problems with acne as a teenager...then i got pregnant haha and again, and again, and again, and again. After having 5 children, my skin was horrible. I saw a dermatologist who diagnosed me with cystic acne. I ended up having a horrible allergic reaction to the antibiotic he prescribed me, twice! I also burnt my skin to the point of peeling with the strong cream he gave me as well...

My husband found your page. I had lost hope and i told him that it couldnt be this easy after the pain i went thru. haha He ordered the treatment for me because i wouldnt do it... After doing the regimen for about 2 weeks, I started to see less and less acne, but also, my scars were disappearing.

My sister in canada was also having cystic acne. I told her about your regimen and she ordered the kit from your site the same day. she does not speak English, so i had to guide her thru it, and it worked for her and she is SOO happy!!! she is a gorgeous woman... absolutely beautiful, but that acne was destroying that for her.. she felt ugly and unattractive...especially in her field of work! “I found your website about four years ago and started the regimen then. In all my years of skin trouble, it was the only thing that helped. Recently, due to some changes in my living arangement, I just sort of fell out of doing the regimen. My skin, of course, started to go back to it's old ways. I decided to start using the regimen again, but I wasn't too thrilled about all the money I'd have to spend on Neutragena, so I checked your website to see if you'd found any new products to replace it.

Well, you did better than that, Dan. You went out and made BP gel, which is by far the best benzoyl peroxide product I've used. Everytime I put it on I'm just amazed that you can bring us such a quality product at such an awesome price. I've been back on it for about two weeks now and my face is already almost blemish free. I can't thank you enough. You really put a lot of thought into BP gel and everyone appreciates that.

Which makes me wonder if you'll be coming out with other products soon. I know that there was a definite need for an affordable 2.5% bp product and that was the impetus behind it's creation. But along with filling that need, you addressed a lot of issues with the current products. I'm sure that you could take what you know and improve on the moisturizers and soaps as well.

After years of suffering from acne, and trying anything and everything I could find, from persciption pills and creams to eating special foods, and trying everything my drugstore sold, I finally made a breakthrough using you advice and system.

“I just want to say thanks!! I am a 29 year old female and have been waiting for the day when I would be free of acne. Although I have never suffered from severe acne, I have sufferend from mild to moderate acne from the age of 13 and cannot remember a day when I had a clear face. I have tried many different over the counter treatments to no avail. I have tried everything from Aveda, Arbonne, Tea Tree and Proactive. Not only were those treatments costly, but they did not even come close to the results I have seen. The true test were the days leading up to my period. I just made it through clean and clear for the first time in my life. My face was dry for the first week or two of the regimen, but has now become accustomed to the regimen.
