well that is an improvement from active acne but still makes me crazy, we just want it gone
the bad thing about BP is that it isn't the best for red marks, so incorporating an AHA into the mix would be good now- Dan has one on this site for sale and I like the Alpha Hydrox enhanced lotion...so work one into your routine daily
stay out of the sun and also make sure you use sunscreen if you are out there....and work a peel into your routine lactic acid or glycolic weekly or every other week...
but good for you on getting to this point- the marks will fade, just takes time but you can speed it along

I just got Dan's AHA in the mail and have started incorporating it into the regimen. I use it as a spot treatment on the red marks before I apply the BP. I'll also start mixing it with the moisturizer. What was your experience with it?
Hi Dylan!
I don't know if you have heard of coconut oil. But it is extremely good for the skin. I use it as my daily night cream. Unrefined, organic coconut oil has antibacterial, antiviral properties and oleic acid (good for the skin), vit E, K (helps erase scars, bruises, etc), and lauric acid to help fight infections. Just keep in mind that the skin is simply a reflection of what is going inside. Healthy skin depends on the health of your gut. Always avoid refined sugars, refined carbs, alcohol, sleep your 8 hours, drink lots of water, try to introduce fermented foods, which promote a healthy gut. Also, Cod liver oil, has lots of vit A, which are great for the skin and tons of vit D (to boost your immune system). Another vitamin I take to maintain healthy skin is Magnesium. (I usually take it before bed, because it relaxes your body and helps induce sleep.) You can find coconut oil at any store, Trader Joes, Sprouts, Whole foods, etc. It's better if you can get Unrefined Organic coconut oil, you just need a little bit, rub it between your hands and apply it on the skin. Your skin will absorb it through out the night. Hope this helps!
I know you're right. I've heard time and time again that toxins in the body are most times released through the skin. Unfortunately I'm a college senior on a budget and can't afford to buy all my own, special acne free food. I have to get whats cheap or whatever my parents send me. I have been trying to eat healthier as of late. A lot of fruit and as many vegetables as I can. I drink tons of water and green tea (loaded with vitamin C). Any other advice for a college kid on a budget?

With all due respect, I'm going to have to strongly disagree with using Coconut Oil... even the most pure, extra virgin, unrefined, organic, cold pressed.
It's got a level 4 out of 5 comedogenic rating and broke me out like crazy every time I've tried it with different skincare routines.
For some it works well, so by all means give it a go, but for others it's pizza face in a jar so if you start breaking out, it's the Coconut Oil.
I do love it for all of its other multipurpose uses, though.
on the AHA, my skin is really tough so I use it morning and night chest and back and at night on the face- all over. It helps keep the pores clean...but in the beginning you should go slow as your skin may be more sensitive and you may need to build up a tolerance to it
as far as food goes, keep it simple, avoid processed foods and stick to meat and vegetables (is there a farmers market close by? much cheaper there)..if you can't avoid expensive meats that's fine, chicken breasts, ground turkey, pork tenderloin are good options...just try to ditch processed foods (no kraft mac n cheese!) learn how to cook...and sugar in moderation
Yeah apparently time is the cure all for pigmentation. It sucks though. Dealing with a pimple can be motivating because you see it start under the skin, get red, come to a head, then heal itself back to nothing.
But with hyper pigmentation it just kinda stays there. No change. A very gradual process
