So I am using the full finger length of BP and then I use the moisturizer after its absorbed, the problem is when i apply the moisturizer my face gets red, puffs up and STINGS, then it dries up extremely. Is the moisturizer reacting badly with the BP because when i use moisturizer way later it works better.

The reason why you should moisturize your skin after applying the Benzoyl Peroxide is because BP will dry up the upper layer of the skin and make it peel and redden. More peeling of skin can either block your skin pores or let the bacteria thrive and multiply or stimulate the oil glands. This produces more Sebum to compensate for the dryness, which leads to acne breakouts. Moisturizing your skin when applying Benzoyl Peroxide is very important. You just have to make sure it's a good moisturizer, use an oil free moisturizer. If you're still extra dry, you may want to try putting your moisturizer on first, let it absorb, and then apply your benzoyl peroxide lotion.

I had that problem when I first started on the regimen! It was really horrible, especially down my neck and my skin seriously looked like a snake or something! I was so embarrassed and it was really uncomfortable. The way I dealt with it was that I cut back to only applying the BP at night. After a few days, my skin handled it a lot better and I am now able to do the full finger's amount at night, then spot treat with the BP in the morning. My skin is a lot more tolerant now, and you can increase the BP back up once your skin has adjusted. Your skin just might need a little longer to adjust to the amounts of BP. Hope this helps!

It takes a bit of time for the skin to get used to benzoyl peroxide. Benzoyl peroxide comes in the strength from 2.5% to 10%. You maybe using too high concentration of benzoyl peroxide so I advice you to start with a very low concentration of benzoyl peroxide that is 2.5%. Starting slowly with a once a day will cut down on the amount of dryness you see.
