Hi everyone,

A brief introduction of myself:

From 16 untill 20 I have had severe acne. When I was 20 I have used roaccutane and it really helped. From 22 untill now (I'm 26) my skin has been in pretty much the same condition. I usually have about 1-3 pimples(small to medium whiteheads) at the time on my face, a few blackheads and about 5 red spots from departing pimples (English?) and a bit of scarring. I was quite satisfied with this condition but after 4 years I wanted to try and get a fully clear skin by using the regimen.

I have started 3 days ago and my skin looks horrible at the moment. I expected some redness/dryness and a few extra pimples(as in getting a few whiteheads), but that is not the case. I have about 50 or maybe even 100 small bumps on my cheeks. The majority of my pores looks "swollen". It doesnt look like any of the acne types that I know of, they are definately not whiteheads or blackheads. I dont know if these bumps are red or that the redness is caused by BP. I think it is the bumps that are red. I dont really notice any dryness yet, but maybe its because my skin is always kinda dry (still because of roaccutane I think). I don't think it is an allergic reaction, because I don't feel any itching at all.

About my usage of the regimen:

I have used the regimen once a day in the evening, I have used half a pump of BP and I have followed the steps strictly.

Yesterday, I have skipped the regimen (only used the moisturizer) hoping that my skin would calm down a bit, but today my skin looks even worse.

I am really forward to some advice. I am really leanin towards quiting the regimen. Mentally it's just too harsh for me seeing it getting worse after all these years.

you just started with the regimen, it takes time to see results. The begininng stages are always the worse...trust me. when you get past that stage you will look back and be very glad you kept with it. Alot of people say the same thing as you, that they wanna quit the regimen becasue their skin is getting worse. Its gunna get worse before it gets better. You say that the BP might be causing the problem but the BP is actually getting deep down into your pores and actually cleansing it from the inside out. Start very slowly with the BP only putting a little bit on at nightitme only until a week goes by, then you can up the dosage to the full amount. Don't get discouraged because i said the same thing in the begininng but now that i got by the "purge" stage my skin is finally settling down and clearing, ofcourse i break out sometimes but their not as severe or as big as they were before. STick with it for at least a month or two and if you decide you dont like it or its not for you then you can stop, but be sure to give the regimen some time becasue its def not gong to work over night...even though i wish there was a magic pill to clear ypu overnight lol

Stick with it!

You're only a few days into the regimen and things will be tough and might seem like it's getting worse for the first few weeks because of the redness and dryness and possible initial breakout as your skin gets used to BP. But after the first few weeks you should start seeing improvements if you keep following the regimen strictly and gradually increase the amount of BP you use. The redness should start to subside and you can add in jojoba oil to help with dryness / flakiness if you haven't already and you should start seeing improvements in your skin in a few weeks. Try and follow the regimen for at least 3 months before deciding if it's working or not for you.

The regimen takes time and patience but, in my opinion, it's worth it in the end.

Good luck with it all - hope it does work well for you. :)

Before buying this product I have watched a lot of reviews on youtube and I have read a few reviews on these forums. Most of them were talking about having a "break out" in the first or second week.

What is considered a "break out" then? I'm not from an English speaking country. I thought it was getting a few (5-10) extra pimples, but I literally have over 100 small bumps, basicly all of my pores.

I honestly dont care about redness or dryness since I'm used to it from previous treatments, but I'm just afraid that all of these bumps evolve into pimples. That would be a disaster.

It may sound like an allergic reaction. Don't use Bp for a couple of days and just moisturise and then start with the Bp again but only a pea size amount. An initial breakout is expected but hundreds of small bumps is not. See how it goes with less Bp but it just may be that your skin doesn't tolerate benzoyl peroxide.

Good luck!

When I first started using BP I was using far less than half a pump of BP and had irritation such as "reptilian skin", redness, dryness, itchiness and even slight swelling.

I think you are using way too much BP for the beginning hence the very bad reaction.. I am about 4 weeks in and because my skin is sensitive I have taken the amount of BP slow and am only using half a pump - a full pump now.. Definitely only do alittle at a time, pea sized amount for first week. Even for the second week because my skin still had to get use to it, instead of adding more BP plus do in the morning I did the same amount but added the morning so my skin did react as badly.

My skin is still in the process of getting use to it but the only affects I have now are dryness and flaky with the afew pimples now and then. I have noticed a significant reduce in my blackhead on my nose, cheeks and forehead!

Stick with it but just apply a much less quantity of BP
